| Championship table teams in the up 15:19 - Nov 26 with 1946 views | Pinewoodblue | Ipswich are not the only team climbing the table. Southampton have won their last four games, Derby have won five of their last six games. M’boro, Bristol City & PNE are dropping points. Who do you expect to be in top six come the end of the year? | |

That's how the cream looks as if it should settle ... but only takes a couple of weird results to turn things upside down.

| Championship table teams in the up on 15:32 - Nov 26 with 1814 views | Illinoisblue | End of year or end of season? Feels like the chasing pack is going to change significantly every week and a couple of good/bad results will change fans’ outlook. Maybe this is how the championship used to be before prem team $$$$ advantage really kicked in? If Brum learn to win away they’ll be dangerous - as willl we if we win at home. Saints got a huge bounce from their new boss, not sure that will last. Boro not convinced by. Derby/Stoke/Preston/Bristol City-Milwall are essentially the same club. One of them will make playoffs | |

Of those 5 teams you name at the bottom, Opta have Derby as by far the worst. They have them as worse than Norwich in their expected table. Derby have been massively helped by Carlton Morris banging in 10 goals (half their entire total), but he's taken a knock and is out for 3 months: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c4gp3e1dypxo

I wonder if Stoke will be able to find any money to reinforce in January. I think their fans think they are where they are despite not having nearly enough good players, and FFP is certainly not their friend. They clearly have a decent manager, so maybe if they can reinforce they can hang on in there.

In another dozen games or so I fully expect it to be a top 4 of Coventry, us, Birmingham and Southampton. By the end of the season I imagine there will be quite a gap to 5th. Looks like Coventry are well away but if neither of the other two finish ahead of us, I would say we get automatic promotion. [Post edited 27 Nov 9:41]

Coventry would have to have a terrible down turn not to get promoted, boro and stoke won't pressure them they will fall away, us or saints will be second, | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Agreed. A 3 way fight for second place. I can see Millwall also pushing but they won't have enough. It's crucial we start to string wins together now, home and away, because Southampton and Brum are only going to go from strength to strength.

I tend to agree regarding Coventry - although last season Sheffield United were on 37 at the top, and fell away. The chasing pack were closer though. Coventry are likely to have a blip at some point, but struggle to see them not being top 2. I still think we'll give them a run for their money on our current trajectory - we've hopefully had our tough patch early in the season, which has left us with ground to make up - but it's certainly possible as some teams fall away.

Exactly. Everything is so close. don't win for 3 games you could drop 10 places!

All ifs and buts, but if we win our game in hand and beat Coventry twice the gap is cut to a single point, very much all to play for.
