Come the end of the season 21:37 - Dec 6 with 2432 viewsitfc_bucks

If Coventry stumble and finish outside the top two, they're exactly the sort of outfit to choke in the playoffs.

And I'll be all here for it.

I certainly wouldn’t want to meet them in a play off semi , a one off at Wembley then yes ….just a hunch .

They've got Preston away midweek and their record there is appalling. I think today will have given them a knock.i still think it's not done and dusted. We also play them again this month...

I've got nothing against them. Really hope they go up and of course that we go up with them.

I said it a couple of weeks ago, if we can beat them twice this month, it could change both our destinies this season. I’m very much looking forward to the return bout 🙂

Would be a nice team to go up with.

I was very surprised by how ordinary they were considering how well they have done. Nothing at all against them but that 12 point gap they have on us could easily disintegrate but we need to consistently play how we did today.

That said, if it weren't for Walton's saves today would have been a different story.

If we go Up this season, I hope it’s with Coventry, gone through the mill
As a club, fans were decent today, good Luck to them, but shows how poor the league is this season , offered very little

The have NEVER won away at Preston in the league. That’s a stunning record.

There are often teams like that. We have never won a league match at Oxford apparently. A record that is likely to continue a while longer too.

After Lampards comments and their lot on their fans forum, I'm hoping they bottle it - what an entitled fan base

This won't be popular but every fanbase is like that. As soon as a club gets a taste of success and things start going well they collectively become very arrogant. Our club was no exception. We've had a little bit of the confidence knocked out of us but if we string a few wins together we'll soon be back to looking down on other clubs just like Coventry are doing.

Truly impaired.

Of all the clubs to have an issue with I don’t think Cov are one really, old school PL side with a fairly loyal fanbase, nearly went out of existence, never had parachute money. Also should have done Sunderland last year.

Seeing the likes of Brentford where they are, now that’s annoying.

Agree, they have suffered, like we did. I hope they go up but I hope it's through the play offs as that would open things up for us in the top 2.

They’ve got a good chance but they’ll fall off I think. I just can’t see them matching the kind of form second half of the season but maybe they won’t need to.

One thing I will say though, I can’t believe how many were awarding them the league in November with their squad.

And should have been in the 2024 FA Cup final. Decent team.

I like Coventry, they've been through some really tough times and rebuilt well without relying on huge investment. They've been thereabouts for a while in the Championship now too. But I don't think they are anything special. They'll go up I think as they've got a big buffer to play with but they looked fairly ordinary to me, quite direct and relying on set pieces for the most part. Not sure if that's how they always set up or if they changed for us but they looked miles off a side that's running away with the league.

They were without quite a bit of firepower yesterday – Sakamoto/Torp/Thomas-Asante – which in fairness limited their options. But it'll be very interesting to see how they do in the second half of the season and Preston (a) isn't necessarily the fixture you'd want up next.

Yes, that's a decent amount of quality they were missing and it shows they perhaps lack a bit in depth when some of their better players are out. I still expected a bit more though, they were very functional but not much more than that.

Our squad, Saints as well, was always going to be a big bonus in a long season compared with the likes of Cov and the other early front runners.

Coventry yet to play Sothampton.

We need to look after ourselves firstly, back to back wins etc, but if we do, and Cov stumble over their next 3 fames (Preston, Bristol City, Saints) then our meeting on 29th could be interesting.

If Cov enter January with the same gap they have now, they'll be fine.

We struggled over the Christmas and new year period in our promotion season. The January reinforcements played a big part in helping to get us back on track.

And I fully expect that to be the case this year too..

If the right faces might be available, I expect the ownership to go and get them.

I never put any credence to these bogey team records. I think we had some losing record to norwich though I forget what it was... I hope I'm wrong though of course and their run continues.
