Debut album wouldn’t land for a few more months, but their single ‘Come Home’ was getting attention hence us kids heading along. We witnessed a very special band before they exploded.

What a good band they were. Gigs certainly must have broken some sort of hearing health rules then. I know those early 80's ones used to leave me half deaf next day for work. Always managed to get near the front. Soon ended up with tinnitus.

I first saw Lindisfarne in either 1971 or 1972 at either Weeley or Bardney festival, you see compared to The Faces or Rory Gallagher they were a bit of a nondescript live band (and I did like them, 'Fog On The Tyne' was the first proper album I bought) but I went off them just before they took to the stage at The Baths Hall in 1973 because I went for a pre-gig drink in The Queens Head and the band were in there in a big circle around a table cold shouldering anyone who came over and asked for an autograph. Poor form I thought. Seen them a couple of times in the last five years just because they were at a festival I was at. Trotting out the hits with sidemen these days. Says the poster whose first gig was Uriah Heap at the Pier Pavilion, Felixstowe... [Post edited 7 Dec 20:44]

Two weeks later I went to the Big Day. Out at Milton Keynes Bowl where Metallica were headlining supported by Marilyn Manson, Sepultura, QOTSA, Terrovision, Monster Magnet, Placebo, Pitchshifter and a couple of others. At 15 years old I imagined I'd always be seeing this many bands in a short space of time 😂

I think I might have been at this. Can’t actually recall what my first gig was, some little local indie band somewhere late 80s.

I grew up in Felixstowe so the Pier Pavilion was where the whole scene went when there was a band on. Not a massive or a posse but a scene. TWTD. I've no idea who was the first band I saw. Saw Kinks, Uriah Heap, Eric Burdon and War, Groundhogs, Atomic Rooster, Edgar Broughton + lots more at the Pier. There was also loadsa gigs at the Civic College - Genesis, Pretty Things, Caravan. + Led Zep at St Matthews baths. I also went to Weeley. Is it possible we were twins separated at birth?

It was a great gig. I listened to FOTT and NOOT endlessly as a teenager. I still think those early songs were great, especially Lady Eleanor and Clear White Light. I remember thinking the band were having such fun on stage. I'm not sure that I ever saw them again!!
