He's raw but there's a lot to like. He pulled off the shoulder well tonight, some good link up play and caused them trouble.
Lots to work on but you can see why we went for him.
All players improve under KM.

I tell you what fair play to him second half. He was much better. That lovely bit of play down the line and sat his man down. I thought he put a brilliant early ball in for Philogene as well who should have been getting across his man.
He clearly needs games. Rusty in first halves. Really impactful of the bench. But was pleased to see him improve.
One thing he is awful at is his diving technique haha. Stay on your feet Azon! |  |

There’s stuff to like - his work rate and movement in the box make him a really fun player. He’s been a bit unlucky with marginal moments such as hitting the post.

Unfortunately he's not good enough for a promotion chasing team, if that's what we want to be. By all means as a sub to bring on, chase things etc and he can get the odd goal like he has.
The chance in the first half, any half decent striker would have got it on target. He really panicked for some reason.
What I didn't like is twice in the first half he was rolling around on the floor, when he was ignored for quite a long time, just got up and started running. Just a pet hate of all football at the moment. Clearly not injured. | | | |

It's aways been urgent in every window. Unfortunately we've only got it right twice. 2023 with Hirst and 2024 with Moore.
We haven't managed without one. Last season we flogged Delap to death and Ali was a massive drop off when he came on. The season before that we tried Broadhead and Ladapo who weren't up to it and we went on a winless run before getting Moore in to get our season back on track.
We will probably get a Premier League loanee in. No one is selling what we need in January. | |

I know we were supposed to be interested some time ago and we do tend to retain interest often. I just haven't seen it on the few occasions I have watched him. Coventry have Wright and Thomas-Asante scoring their goals too and would potentially appreciate the money for one to get more squad depth. | |

Like Nunez, he seems full of joy out there, and that's one thing that's still developing in this team. Think Harness, Burns, Donacien, Chaplin, Leigh - big grins on faces and massive team energy as we were storming through League 1 and the Championship. |  |

Failing to get another striker last season, was a big part of our problems last season
We could have got one in January too but ended up with Philogene and Enciso, of course we don't know who we missed out on

He reminds me a bit of a more skilful Ali Al-Hamadi (no, no, let me finish!) in that he's very good at being a bloomin' nuisance, disrupting, getting in the way and distracting defenders, but unfortunately without the final 10% needed to put all that to direct use. And, just like AAH, for all that he seems a smashing chap, not really destined for great things here. |  |

Very different kinds of players, I think Sargent would suit us better than Simms as an example, not that I can see Nodge selling him to us after Nunez
Simms does have quality and might do a similar job to Moore but I'd worry he isn't the most mobile and we do rely on our strikers to put in a big shift
We could do with an aerially dominant striker as an option but equally a real speed merchant who would give us pace on the break, which we lack at times
Both would give us something different against the low block sides
Hirst is more of an all rounder, reasonably good in the air and quick for a big man
Azon works hard and is probably cleverer with the ball with out being overly rapid or particularly clinical but god loves a trier
Akpom looks reasonably quick, has a decent touch with reasonable technical ability but gives the impression of having a low work rate. I appreciate his confidence maybe low and he may look a decent player if he can find some goals
I liked the look of Kyogo at Brum, he ran the channels well and made a real nuissance of itself, he clearly has some quality. If we could find someone like that, they'd add something. Szmodics might do a similar role like that, if we did want to use him in that way potentially. | |

Absolutely not. He's got a bit better but he requires everyone else to do his running. Decent finisher but he's just not mobile. | |
