They chased him pretty much most of the summer as well. Would be a surprising move given the reason he came here was to live closer to Brentwood, but footballs a short career and a 3 year deal up there on decent money would probably be too hard to turn down if he’s not going to feature here. Understand why people would think this, but I imagine this is more of Ashton not wanting us to play him. He wouldn't be starting, he's not critical off the bench. Why take the risk? Getting his wages gone in Jan would be a boost. |  | | |

Said it before, some of our outbound business over the next 6 months feels as important as inbound. Muric, Szmodics, Ogbene - 3 players there that cost us somewhere in the region of £25m, if we can get 75% of that back we will have done very well. It sounds like Muric is doing well in Italy, hopefully we can claw back close to what we paid for him, if we can get £6m for Szmodics and get a fee for Ogbene that would be decent damage limitation. |  | | |

What's this thread all about?! He just got back from injury and was playing and now Ill. Not sure why all these rumours and expect he'll be back maybe for Portsmouth or the cup. | |

Was more tongue in cheek.
I don’t think there’s any resemblance to the Hutchinson situation. Either is genuinely ill or a set back with his injury, nothing more to it I’d imagine.
Although wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t move on in January, not that I don’t rate him at all, just hasn’t quite worked out and if we could return some money it would be a sensible deal you’d imagine. | | | |

If we are honest though he’s never fitted our system. He looks lost on the left, and ineffective as a 10. Really like him as a player and he scored in the PL for us but I don’t see how he fits into our plans.
He’s also incredibly injury prone so it’s a lot of wages for his output. | | | |

Not a hope Derby can pay what we will be looking for, or his wages. And he is better than Derby imho.
I remain unconvinced he's off - will see what comes out the club in the coming days but as it stands at the moment its speculation and as MA says, only believe what you hear from the club

Absolute rubbish. None of us know if he will play for the club again, just as we don’t know if anyone who played last night has made their last appearance. Don’t start with this “off the field” stuff though. I can tell you with absolute certainty that he’s been unwell. I also read something on here the other day about how he must be off because someone went to his house and there were signs of him moving. He moved very recently so whether it’s his old house they were at or his new one and they haven’t fully unpacked yet I don’t know but it’s unrelated to any transfer. [Post edited 30 Dec 15:54]

I do completely agree that starting rumours with no basis is not helpful.
However, Kieran has been very concise with his description of this one, and he's previously led us to believe that both Omari and Brandon Williams had illness/injury issues when in fact he knew that they were not going to be part of our squad going forward.
SS has not been the success we'd hoped for at Town, but he has ripped it up previously in this division. He would have suitors in this division, we're coming up to January, and we need to free up squad spaces for a goalscorer.
So given that McKenna has used illness as a bit of a smokescreen before, I don't think we can be surprised that the speculation is that SS might be lining up for a move. Not criticising Kieran btw, sometimes you have to do the best PR thing even if it means a lack of total transparency. |  | | |
