What's the coldest that you've been at a game? on 14:37 - Jan 5 by Pendejo
I'd say Barnsley for that miserable FA Cup 4th round defeat 27/01/90
Did you not appreciate being held in the away end in a blizzard for 15 minutes after the game after the shocking 2-0 loss?
I'd managed to persuade a non-itfc friend to drive me down from Sunderland where I was at Uni. Driving back in the snow was horrendous. Its bad enough if its your team, but someone else's....
(In fairness he also drove down to Ipswich a couple of times when we played Sunderland - including the night Maxwell fell off his yacht)
The Charlton game on NYD 1996 (mentioned elsewhere) was colder. Referee shortened half-time to 10 minutes, and to this day I'm convinced it was less than 90mins (it was 1-1 and for the last 20 minutes everyone just wanted to go home)

This was the game that I remember being bloody freezing at. Open terrace, dreadful performance and it started snowing in the latter stages so got wet to compound the misery.
We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub.

Was at Swindon v Ipswich December 1991, I lived in the Town at the time so it was around a 15 minute cycle ride home. From about half time until well after 7pm, I was absolutely frozen beyond belief, despite being so cold I couldn’t drag myself away. The game finished 0-0!

Actually, think it was the defender who broke his leg not the keeper in that collision.
Shilton and McCall played in the cup game the following season which was an evening game. Thompson put one in the top corner from somewhere near the halfway line helped by Shilton being well past it at that that stage.
Cardiff at home, November/December 20-something. We won 1-0 and the four or five people directly in our row with us openly lamented us scoring because we had sort of built up a communal warmth that immediately dissipated once we jumped up to celebrate. We were freezing for the rest of the match.

The Tottenham home game around dec 2001 which we won 3 0
That was a cold one. Fortunately I was in NS for that and there was a lot of jumping around and we played well, so that kept the cold at bay. My dad was in the car rug section of West Stand and despite the Motson coat, shared rug with his female seat neighbour who had a beard and two large hip flasks of glenfiddich he froze. I was driving fortunately.

Sunderland away in their old ground with no roof, it was a February night game iirc, and snowing a blizzard. Must have been mid 90s, I was a teenager by myself and can't remember the score but distinctly remember it being boring and very very very cold.

Charlton away, New Years Day 1997. Loads of games had been called off because of frozen pitches. The large double doors at the back of the away end were left open and the wind whipped through the whole game. I think I was the only person in the postcode not wearing a hat.
That was very cold!

FA Cup 3rd Round at Bristol Rovers 97/98. Rain, hail stones and an open away end. Hid behind the advertising hoarding at one point. Still no idea how that game carried on...
That is one which stands out. Not sure I ever fully thawed out.

Yes, that Charlton New Year's day away game. If I hadn't got a cup of hot chocolate at half time, I reckon I would have expired.
I remember a 0-0 draw with Wigan at home, it was an evening match. The dleet blew straight into the Sir Alf Ramsey Upper. Also the game was crap, wish I'd left at halftime!

January 1972 at home vs West Ham Feet were bloody freezing, At half time I ran round the practice pitch behind the west stand to try and get them warm, along with everything else. Ipswich won 1 - 0
I was at that game. Peter Morris scored a last minute winner which I think deflected in off Bobby Moore's shoulder. I don't remember actually being particularly cold at that game, but I do remember being careful to avoid some fairly unpleasant looking West Ham fans at the station.

Yes, Peter Morris scored the deflection winner. I was just a youngster and I was freezing! Really pleased we won but probably more excited to see Bobby Moore and Geoff Hurst.

Bristol Rovers away 5th round FA cup 1978
Yes game probably called off nowadays. Snow on pitch. Terraces and streets around ground icy. Robin Turner saved us that day...then onward to Cup success.

Yeah that was mine as well. It had snowed the NYE before (went to a party in Colchester and ended up staying with the hosts) and the Valley was the coldest place I've ever experienced. I wa surprised the game was on - think we lost 2-1?
They were parading Jermaine Defoe before the game I seem to recall. We all sang "You should've signed for Ipswich".
Edit: Drew 1-1. Still didn't derive from the horrendous chill that day. Think we were sat where the home fans sit now?
