Basically been told that he’s no longer required at West Ham today. Would he be ‘in our bracket’ as someone to stay until the end of the season.

Likely on a decent wage - but has been used recently - so at ‘game speed’ and ready to go immediately.

Not one for past the end of the season - but I can’t think of many better fits to satisfy what we’re in need of.

I'd like that a lot.

Not many clubs in this country that could realistically take him. Think he’d be good for us on a short term deal but guess he might want more than that.

Will they require him tomorrow, though? Must have been quite a late training session.

Even if the comment is true, they may well have a new manager within days/weeks which might change whether he has a future there.

Interesting link.

As an aside, are Guardian writers using AI now?

“Figures within West Ham have been surprised by Nuno’s use of Wilson, who has scored four goals in 18 times. Although it is accepted striker’s physical load needs to be managed carefully, there is a feeling that West Ham are a better side with him and his bit-part role in recent weeks has caused surprise.”

“Four goals in 18 times” said nobody ever, and the next sentence isn’t much better.

Not like the Grauniad ever had a problem with typos in the past.

Put in another thread that I’d take him - deal until the end of the season which is automatically extended if we go up. Wouldn’t need to move house and realistically, would come in as an instant starter.

Can’t see Coventry paying his wages.

Saudi maybe more of a realistic end point

I was surprised he stayed at prem level to be honest. Admittedly not seen him this season but watching him at the back end of last season he looked like he could barely run.

Apparently he is desperate to stay at Premier level as he wants to join the Hundred club says Jeff Hendrick on Sky .

Used to be excellent but now old (34 in Feb), injury prone and not the player he was. Surely we haven’t reverted to this have we?

Given how pitiful West Ham are this season, if they won’t play him, why would we want him and his no doubt chunky salary?

Callum Wilson on 09:54 - Jan 6 with 1805 viewstetchris

Bit injury prone but is affordable as reported on a basic wage of £6k to £10k at west ham with big bonuses for appearances and goals. If he scores the goals that get town to PL the bonus payments would be worth it

Callum Wilson on 14:49 - Jan 6 with 1459 viewsBouncebackIpswich

Isn't he worth a punt? Can hold the ball up and run in behind, and a poacher.

Might not be able to do the running required though not sure

He is on a small wage of £6k per week with performance related and goal related high bonuses. Now they have signed two strikers, They've let Callum Marshall go on loan to Germany, Guilherme sold to Sporting for £17 million, so they only have Cummings as back up striker. West Ham also want Tarrore from Fulham

Exactly what we need. If West Ham don't want him, then would be a perfect fit for us. Get this done please.

A fit Callum Wilson would see us go up but I just worry he'll start like a house on fire then get injured and be out for three months. That said if we can play him for an hour every week and hope he doesn't get injured but will he want to drop down a level and can we afford him?

Poll: How many team changes tonight?

Callum Wilson on 08:02 - Jan 7 with 458 viewsHerbivore

He has excellent pedigree but he's 34 and quite injury prone, would cost a decent wedge (in wages) and would expect to be starting every week even though he probably doesn't have the fitness or attributes these days to play the way we need our number 9 to play. It's one of those that sounds appealing on paper maybe but I don't think it's a gamble worth taking.
