(annoying caption ignored) This guy looks brilliant as an investment for us. Very powerful and knows exactly how to use his body in a challenge (very similar to Matusiwa there). Looks very calm on the ball (maybe in a slower league though?) Looks a bit more progressive than Matu, but maybe not as mobile / Wark-like. Overall quite a similar player to Matu, and they've obviously played together before. He could definitely fulfil the role of Matu back-up but maybe wouldn't come on that basis, BUT I could definitely see a midfield two of Matu/Lopy working to fully release our front four at this level AND being a very solid and effective pairing for us if we get up. Ideally I'd like the second half of this season to be as much about building a team for next season as possible, so long obviously as we can stay on track for top two. I'm gonna go early and say I really want this transfer, would give us a fantastic CM base.

What is it with going back for old players? He didn't really play much for us and he's only played 8 times for them this season. SB

Not for me, he couldn't dislodge Morsy or Luongo two years ago and he's not exactly impressing at Derby from what I understand.

Not dislodging Mass and our captain, who had built up a brilliant partnership,is hardly a stick to beat Travis with though is it? I guess it depends what we need- if solid backup to what we have, who knows this league and is happy getting minutes here and there as and when required is what we are after ,Travis fits the bill. If we are targeting someone to start alongside Matusiwa though,I guess we would aim our sights higher.

I do agree with you, but,he is hardly in the same bracket though as a Downes for example is he? In terms of he was only at the club for a short period. As I've just said to Dan, if we are looking for a solid championship rotation option,I think hed fit the bill. Depends what we are looking for i guess.

I liked the look of him too, but complete opposite to Lopy. If we were looking at one 'stopper' and one flair player like Matu/Jens (not working well enough) or Matu/Ruiz for a division we are comfortable in (Championship next season if we don't get promoted) then Ruiz might be a good bet. I'm looking for a more defensive pairing Matu/Lopy as being the default base CM pairing helping make us a team solid enough to stay in the PL if we get up, but which can sometimes just be one of them (to give the other a rest) with the flair player.

| Dion Lopy CM on 09:37 - Jan 7 with 3019 views | Swansea_Blue | Franco being on that list surprises me. He wouldn’t be a good fit. He’s a terrier, has the heart of a lion and and never lets anyone rest, but he doesn’t play the holding role (so no surprise his attacking stats are better) and he’s nowhere near as good as Matu at protecting the ball and distribution. He could play alongside Matusiwa, but we have better ball players already for that role. | |

The way we usually operate is that we'd want someone better than what we currently have available. We've got Matusiwa, Cajuste, Taylor and arguably Nunez. I don't think he's better than any of those options. Obviously Nunez is doing a good job in the 10 role at the moment but I don't think that's where we actually bought him to play.

Would you say that Ebou Adams is better than what we have then? Because I wouldn't. To be fair,I am not saying that we should be targeting Travis ,I was just using him as an example really. Im hoping we are setting our sights higher than him or Adams.

I thought Nuno had insisted he won't play him? Even though they need a set piece expert.

Well he hasnt featured featured for them so far this season. But I agree, it would be very difficult for them to sell him.

I think he's a better Matusiwa replacement than Taylor.
