Sky just said they understand Mehmeti will become a Town player having passed a medical today for a deal worth £3m

It'd be quite a narrow brush in all honesty Herbs

All very angry to others being even more angry

Calling for protests at tomorrow's game

Lovely stuff.

Happy with that.

I dunno man. Weird signing IMVHO. But I hope he’ll be skills on toast.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Think he suits us more than other players we have.

Still think Szmodics will go this window as well…

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

It suggests that one of Philogene or Nuñez might be carrying more than a niggle.

If that is th case then the recruitment team should be congratulated on moving quickly to ensure we have a suitable replacement, and for keeping it sufficiently under wraps to prevent Bristol City from realising that we had a pressing need and that they could milk us.

Possibly but think we'd have been in for a 10 anyway this window. Szmodics and Akpom haven't done enough in that role which only really leaves Nunez who has spent most of his career playing deeper.

As well as the recruitment team I guess he's pretty well known to KM as he was at Spurs when KM was there.

No I agree, we were never going to sign oven ready premier league players this window and nor should we given we're not there...yet.

I think he's every bit a Chappers upgrade, a good age, good price, and proven at Championship level. There's a lot to like about it and the downside risk feels pretty minimal given there's little doubt we could get a nice loan fee or transfer fee if we didn't fancy him 12 months from now. I'd question if he goes any way at all to bridging a potential PL gap that we might face in 4 or 5 months from now, but that's a future problem (hopefully) and one we need to earn first.

Agree. Very much expect us to loan a PL striker, not buy one in this window.

If we can effectively swap him for Szmodics at no cost to us or a profit that would be a great trade.

Very pleasing to be adding such strength to the squad, great numbers too.

My only concern is - he's not particularly big/athletic. And we know that's something we massively need if we are to go up. feels like he could be sold on if gaining promotion for a decent fee/profit

Many players thrive at prem level without necessarily being that big/athletic prime example is Jarrod Bowen at 5ft 9 and clearly a great player

If the player is good enough they'll thrive

Do they always need to be big/athletic?

Harry Wilson and Phil Foden have banged in a few goals already this season and neither is big/athletic? Christ if we could get Foden I certainly wouldn't say sorry Phil you're only 5ft 7 inches and not very athletic therefore you're not big enough for the PL, your height is more suited to L1.

Being big and athletic suits our preferred method of play of hoofing it from the keeper to the big lad up top...or at least thats what the vocal half of the crowd seems to want most matches!

This article has some Bristol fans annoyed.

https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/2

Not very happy with Morsy 'tapping up' Mehmeti for us:

"Asked whether they spoke about the move, Mehmeti revealed: “Yeah, non-stop! He’s a legend of the club.

“Everyone knows what type of human being he is, not only a top footballer. We spoke hard over the last few weeks about how this can be such a great step for my career.

“He’s buzzing for me because he thinks this is the right fit for me.”"

They don't seem to appreciate their latest signing convincing their best player to leave. In Sam's defence, if it's been "weeks" then it started before he arrived, but still not a great look.

It's cute that some of them see us as promotion rivals!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Really very happy about this signing...
...I've seen several posts debating his starting position/role in the team, so thought it would be worthwhile posting where he's played for BC over the past 1.5 seasons (according to Transfermarkt)...
...definitely appears to have developed primarily into a number 10 recently, though obviously versatile across many positions.
His start for BC vs us on Tuesday was 1 of only 2 starts this season in the LW role.
