A little village called Trunch, middle of nowhere near Mundesley.

Old boy stopped for a chat, I said I don’t think I can talk to you with that lot on, that lot being a Norwich hat, coat and scarf.

Told him I was Ipswich and he said… “oh I support them as well, I’ve got an Ipswich hat inside as well, they’re the only two teams we’ve got - don’t know why there’s all that animosity”

Then said how he was off to Carrow Rd tonight and had a season ticket.

Unbelievable.

Even had a cheek to moan about Look East not giving them any coverage and how they’re ‘all Ipswich on there’

I didn’t tell him what I really thought but I did say we kind of want them to win tonight but I won’t be upset if they get pumped.

Trunch is a really pleasing sounding place name.

Trunch.

I'd not heard of it until now. Have just added it to my list of unusual English village names for when I make another quiz of that ilk.

The Kipper Family were from Trunch. Not a lot of people know that!

Yonks back before my time, it apparently used to be like that. I’m not sure about us and ‘them’, but there are old boys over this way who say that they’d go off and watch Swansea one week and then be off to Cardiff the next week depending on who was at home.

Strange times. Maybe this fella was just stuck in the 50s?

Wasn’t there a story in the Star/EADT a few years back saying there’s a not insignificant number of people who are season ticket holders at BOTH Ipswich and Norwich. Seem to recall there was some fixture change which was upsetting people .

I used to hate Norwich and still think derby game is biggest game of season but I like them being in same league and think it's good for the area if both teams do well. Tonight was brilliant and enjoyed seeing them playing well and the passion of their players and supporters. My dad was the same and he always wanted Norwich to do well just not quite as well as Ipswich.

and Tranmere for both sets of fans on a Friday.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Great cycling in that area. Had a caravan holiday in Trimlingham. Lots of official 'quiet lanes' to ride on.

We went on a school trip to Mundesley in about 1984. It was the worst trip we ever did.

Camping in these six-man tents, all boys farting at night in sleeping bags. Camp fires lit with damp wood. Communal shower blocks and toilets. The mad old girl in the campsite office who used to smoke untipped fags and had a brown moustache as a result. Her Norfolk accent was so strong you couldn't understand her. Pissed-on groundsheets, Calor gas lamps and that hissing sound they made at night, ten mile tramps around the scabby countryside, drawing the odd flora and fauna of interest in coloured pencils on scrap paper.

Supervising adults who nipped down the local and came back singing. No telly. No newspapers. Stew for supper every night. Being told off for minor indiscretions. Awful place.

Probably.

We definitely went to Thursford for a treat. Last day on the way back, after the mini-bus broke down and we all had to push it. That was strange as well. Some camp looking bloke in a shiny suit playing the Wurlitzer and craning his neck smiling. Like something out of Monty Python.

The rivalry is fun but shouldn't be taken seriously. The best derby games have always been when we're close on the table.

Mundesley is nice. Faces NE into the North Sea. The Ship has glorious views from the cliff top and excellent crab sandwitches. The Haig Club won the Norfolk CAMRA Club of the Year. Mum loved it.

Went to view a house in Trimingham many years ago. It had been ‘updated’ by a well-meaning but limited DIY-er. Had a north-facing ‘sun lounge’ with a built in electric fire, a dining room with oak panelling that had no windows, stairs that bounced as you went up them, with a rope banister, bathroom that was completely tiled out in the most vivid green known to man and a kitchen that looked as if had been designed by a psychotic six-year-old. And in every room his wife just said ‘he did all this himself’. Decided not to buy it

But thinking about it, with you answer (‘probably’) I reckon you did - use went by in a blur of Whittons finest!
