The player could make the move, but—as previously mentioned—he doesn't have the Championship in mind as his next step. Ipswich can continue searching. The deal is off for now.

Is there any reason we haven't seen any rumours about a bid for Vipotnik form Swansea? Is he a bad egg or something? [Post edited 27 Jan 17:08]

Ugh, it's such a tricky one. Piroe is definitely an ambitious signing, and one that we should be aiming for. But then there's the question of how firmly against a Championship deal Piroe is. I really don't envy the balancing act of trying to be ambitious, whilst remaining realistic, especially in the face of players who don't want to move here.

He’ll be alright once he’s had a good think about it

He shouldn’t be against it. He’s good in the Championship, but can’t get in a team near the bottom of the PL. He needs to be realistic about his level (he’s not quick/physical enough for the PL even if he is a nice footballer, imo).

He has only started two Premier League games this season, and those both in August. He hasn’t scored this season and been on the bench for the rest of EPL games bar one which he missed due to injury. Come to Ipswich and he has two chances to make an impact. Scoring the goals to gain promotion and scoring goals to keep us up next. Signing for Ipswich is very much in his interest. Hope it happens before Preston game wouldn’t want to go into that game with the prospect someone likely to be dropped from 25 man squad on the day the window closes. These uncertainties probably contributed to our less than impressive start to the season. Edit Every Ipswich squad needs a Dutchman. [Post edited 27 Jan 18:02]

Another ex gold boot player. Would that be 3 in the squad or 4? Crazy really

Maybe Mr Piroe is sending out little coy messages to us.

This is my concern. Another player who has already proven he wouldn’t be good enough if we went up. Dan,although only a loan is another,if we went up we really wouldn’t want him, neither are Prem players. Least Dan we could jettison. We couldn’t if we have paid big bucks for one. We also have Akpom, who we are obliged to buy if we go up and he can’t even cut it in the championship nowadays.

Well, quite. But is Piroe on a 4 year deal and probably close to pushing £10m the answer when we’ll be looking to replace him in 6 months time?
