| The Edward Ebineezer tune is so embarrassing! 23:14 - Jan 29 with 4462 views | trueblue85 | Who genuinely thinks this silly tune is a good idea? Sure it has it’s place, I wouldn’t want it banned, but it’s hardly an intimidating, partisan, and rousing club anthem is it!! It sounds more like a cocky knees-up with Chas’n’Dave. I genuinely cringe every time I hear it or see people trying to “sing” it. Absolutely awful!! | | | | |

Morning sunshine Nail on the head here. EEJB is obviously a bit corny - but it's ours, and lends itself to getting everyone bellowing out, in unison. I love it. Shove your bubbles up your anus.

| The Edward Ebineezer tune is so embarrassing! on 08:20 - Jan 30 with 713 views | Guthrum | So you would ger rid of the one genuinely original and unique song the club has? In favour of some no doubt posturing and hollow attempt to sound "intimidating"? Atmosphere at football grounds is created by having a large number of fans singing familiar songs to which they all know at least most of the words, for a reasonable proportion of the game while nothing dramatic is happening. The actual lyrics and tune are less important than the volume and continuity (which is why everyone uses the same material with their own team's name and achievements inserted at the relevent points). EEJB at least has tradition behind it and is something recogniseably different from the usual. Plus it has a bit of humour, which is a good thing unless you're some over-hyped kid pretending to be the glamourised screen version of a 1980s hooligan. | |

I would say though that too many people don’t know the words. I guess it could catch on but I’m not convinced.

| The Edward Ebineezer tune is so embarrassing! on 09:49 - Jan 30 with 496 views | Superfrans | Because it’s unique. Because it’s ours. Because it has some history and hasn’t just been written by a celebrity’s son or something (like that horrendous Arsenal dirge). | |

| The Edward Ebineezer tune is so embarrassing! on 09:58 - Jan 30 with 487 views | mistert | Have a down vote from me. It's a song that can unite the whole fan base and when the whole stadium sings it together the unity itself is intimidating even if the lyrics aren't. It’s humble, it’s quirky, and it confuses the life out of away fans. It’s peak Ipswich! [Post edited 30 Jan 10:03]

| The Edward Ebineezer tune is so embarrassing! on 23:41 - Jan 29 by gainsboroughblue | I think it has it's place. I'm not convinced it is best served as the crowd 'gee-up' at the start though. The original version is played over the speakers and it's a bit 'music hall'. Now, sang in an away pub by 20 or 30 or so blokes, I thought it sounded good, and it's ours. I've long thought that Adicts 'Viva la Revolution' should be played before kick off and after a win. |
Who was it on here a couple of years ago who confessed to having painted "viva la revolution" (also spelt wrong, like the song) on the Tuddenham Road railway bridge?

Wrong way around, surely Ed should have released a cover version by now.

| The Edward Ebineezer tune is so embarrassing! on 11:33 - Jan 30 with 306 views | LegendofthePhoenix | I remember when this was first released, I guess it was around 1974. As a 12/13 year old, I bought the record, but immediately thought it was really cringey and embarrassing. I think we must have gone through at least 20 years maybe as many as 40 at PR where it was never played, but over the last few years since its resurgence, I have to say I love it now. I couldn't care less that it is corny, it's OURS. It's our anthem, it's unique, it's at least 50 years old, and everyone should sing it. | |
