Having watched Town since 1968 i recall just about every centre forward has gone through a barren spell. Even the great Paul Marina experienced one. But...if we are serious about promotion then we should have taken action on that position during the last transfer window. Yes I know it's difficult at that time to get quality but to do nothing may prove to be a major error...both for this season and if we get promoted. |  |

I loved hirst for what he offered in his all round game. I never asked for hirst to play instead of delap because hed score more goals than him that wouldn't have happened.
But promotion hirst was a beast uptop. Annoying defenders. Winning battles. Playing team mates in. Winning 5050s and being a proper forward.

Apologies then I shall go back and reword it as its a comment against a news story not as a message to an individual.
Also SB. You know how much i loved hirst as you and I exchanged many posts about my desire for hirst over delap.
I do get why othrrs feel this is like my previous with wes. I apologies for that. Not the intention. Its more about built up frustration as hes been one of my favourite players under gamechanger and ive clearly showing that frustration way to much so ill honestly refrain from it going forwards.

I agree with your second point whole heartedly.
But the first point from Mathie is obviously b0llcks. He's missed many gilt edged chances this season. Just in the last few games, there was the Preston one he scuffed wide and the one in the first half on Friday which was more difficult but he didn't even make contact with the ball... Every fan I'm sure wants him to score, but he missed 2 sitters in the 1st few minutes on Friday from inside the penalty area. The 1st he missed with his head and it bounced off his shoulder and the 2nd was the fresh air shot. We have the 2nd best goals scored after Coventry in the division, without having any of our 3 CFs looking threatening. Just imagine where we would be if we did have a goalscorer in that position. | | | |

I agree, although you'd want him to work the keeper in those positions.
Friday's gone now. We have to look forward to the next game and the rest of the season. He'll have chances again and hopefully he'll get back to the player that he can be. The current barren spell is obviously affecting his confidence (he's pretty much said that), which is understandable and affecting his all-round game. Every forward goes through that from time to time. As supporters, the best we can do is get behind him and stop the audible moaning, particularly during a game. | | | |
