Jim Ratcliffe moved to Monaco in 2020 during covid aged 67. Lewis Hamilton moved to Monaco in 2012 having moved to Switzerland in 2007.
One is seen as a villain because he moved to Monaco after paying multi millions in tax.
The other is seen as a hero being 22 when he moved there.
Could there be a reason other than tax avoidance that they are seen totally differently.

However, being means tested, it is a lot more equitable than the raft of sales taxes, duties and flat-rate poll taxes which were used previous to that.

On Radio 5 earlier I heard them interviewing an American lady about Jesse Jackson. The interviewee said Trump is a racist to which the interviewer had to interject and say Trump denies being a racist.

The notable thing was that the interviewee accepted that the interviewer had to make that comment but then proceeded to explain that Trump absolutely is a racist because of the racist things he does whether he accepts the term or not. She additionally pointed out that it is exactly the thing Jesse Jackson would have stuck to his guns about in denouncing Trump for his racism.

As far as i'm aware i haven't seen Lewis Hamilton making similar, highly-offensive claims.

People like Ratcliffe have blood on their hands.

Young friend of mine lost his battle against mental health issues a couple of days ago, while scumbag tax avoiders like "Sir Jim" have been deliberately starving the NHS of funds, out of greed and selfishness.

It amazes me that the first thing that came out after Sir Jim mentioned the colonisation by immigrants was that he had gone to Monaco to save on taxes so how could he say that when he had moved abroad.
Therefore the emphasis wasn't particularly on what he had said but what he had done.
As for highly offensive I believe he was taken out of context in that he wasn't referring to all immigrants including those that had come here via legal means or those born to families who had been here a very long time.
He was highlighting a problem and whether you, I or anyone else like it or not we have a very serious problem with illegal immigration. Not just the huge costs estimated at £40,000 per immigrant per year but the fact that our infrastructure cannot cope. Facilities such as the NHS, housing etc.
We have a huge amount of people under the age of 24 who cannot get jobs, millions on benefits long term paying nothing into the system and in some cases getting a lot more or a similar amount to people working.
Our roads are full of potholes and the ability to access doctors and dentists is very difficult.
Our large industries have all but disappeared and people are being laid off work at the same time as the government's tax take is the highest since after WW2.
I agree that the way Ratcliffe said what he said was not thought through and yes his figures were incorrect. But as a Country that is frankly going down the pan and has been for 30 years or so something has to be done to stop the rot.
