| The split in the far-right vote on 17:59 - Feb 22 by JackNorthStand | You implied that asylum seekers weren’t included as foreign nationals and have just had another car crash comment. Those hat you mentioned as being in the UK on holiday, with work visas and students are all here with passports and have been given permission to enter, so due diligence has been taken to come to that decision. People arriving illegally on boats have gone through no such checks at that point. |
“ There is a disproportionate amount of foreign nationals that enter the UK and are convicted of sexual offences” You do understand you have just proved my point. Foreign nationals are not the same as asylum seekers. You just pointed that out. But it is you using a stat about foreign nationals, to say something about asylum seekers. There are over 10 Million people or roughly 16% of the U.K. population that will be described as foreign nationals. As you helpful have pointed out, a completely different demographic, which you now seem to be aware of. Either you realised this, already, and are dishonestly misusing stats, or were ignorant of that.

The value of the Rwanda scheme is that eliminates risk that comes with allowing someone to stay in the UK, who has entered the UK by small boat, illegally, without first being vetted. You do realise that 45% of asylum applications being successful means that 55% are unsuccessful, not 65% as you're claiming. Some of those who are rejected initially will also be successful on appeal. And for those who are rejected on appeal and made to leave, the fact their claim has been rejected doesn't mean they are here for nefarious reasons, it means they've not met the prescribed conditions to be granted asylum.

Thanks, 55% is correct - typo as I was walking. As we move onto page 15 of this thread whilst we all have different views and opinions and whilst we may not agree, I have to say it’s been good to debate without it getting out of hand as some of these threads have previously ( not with me personally ). On that note, good night ladies and gentleman.

I’m not really sure what point you’re trying to make, you seem to be going around in circles. I posted, just now saying goodnight and it’s been a good debate before I saw your reply, but felt I owed you a reply. So on that note goodnight

My Yoruba, Kpelle, Duala, Swahili and Chewa are all limited to a handful of words. Fortunately the locals were always welcoming and forgiving of my limited linguistic abilities and patient too. Being nice or unpleasant to foreign visitors or migrants is a personal choice and a shame we in the UK seem unable to reflect the attitudes of many around the world in welcoming those from overseas.

Yeah because all those pensioners living on the Costa Del Sol, speak fluent Spanish. I know Brits who have been in over here for decades and still don't speak Norwegian. On the flip side, just because you hear someone speaking a foreign language, doesn't mean they are 'incapable' of speaking English.

The point is, there aren't entire streets where people are almost incapable of speaking the language. It's more dog whistling bollix.

Stopped once on the Costa Del Sol with a mates inlaws who'd been there 20+ years. Two things struck me, when I asked about the bus into town they said they'd not once caught it, and they labelled one beach a "Spanish beach" It was clear the levels of ntegration were minimal, literally living in a mini-England bubble using pubs and shops where everything was in English. I don't particularly have a problem with it (is a bit sad to miss out on a local culture) but do object to the double standards where say an elderly Indian or Pakistani grandmother is judged for largely speaking their language in a community in the UK.

How do you suggest they access these books when living on just £7.02 a day? They can’t get a job because they can’t speak the language. Surely it would be better for the tax payer to fund an English lessons so somebody coming to this country can integrate into the community contribute to the economy? Just shoving a book in somebody’s hand won’t teach them English. Anymore than me shoving an alternative book in your hand would teach you Arabic. We complain that people arriving in this country refuse to intend then out every obstacle in their way to prevent them from doing so.

Nah, not properly. I’ve learnt enough Polish, Romanian, and Tagalog to have fun in port just by sailing and conversing with the guys. I tried learning Chinese using Duolingo, being able to tell people that I am Italian wasn’t too helpful. My German is alright when I actually spend some time there. I’m not very good with languages though.
