| Massive over the top reaction on here with this Farage visit 12:07 - Mar 24 with 2882 views | IP1Blue | It’s been made very clear that there is no official involvement from ITFC. It was a privately booked tour through Reform, the club was left in a very difficult position. The posts and polls saying TWTD are defending the club is a disgrace and asking Ashton to resign/sacked over this, also outrageous. Would there be outrage and the same posts/polls if this was the greens and Zach Polanski, labour and Kier Starmer, conservatives and Kemi Badenoch? You can’t say we’re inclusive to all and then alienate the party who is leading the polls and are projected to win 50/70 seats in the Suffolk council elections in May. Even if there politics are ones you disagree with and may I add, politics I don’t agree with. I’ve seen posts saying this alienates 60% of the base and if any of them leaders that I mentioned were here, would also alienate 60% of the fan base, it’s no different, only a difference of opinion. The majority of green, labour and reform voters, funnily enough have the same issues - struggling to pay rent, dealing with inflation etc etc but where the issues remain in opinion is by the cause of said issues and also the solution. If you can find common ground in the issues, I can guarantee in 80% of convos with people you can the solution and the cause. All of this is driven by media and divisive politics - if that is how someone absorbs there news then it’s no surprise that is how they view the issues, it’s up to people like us to explain why they’re wrong and how that form of media is biased - help to educate people. Just calling people racist and bigoted will only add fuel to the fire. Here is Gary Stevenson talking about it which sums it up brilliantly - https://shorturl.at/clJXE I’d argue a lot of people on this forum who regularly post about their politics fuel the divisive political discussions on here and rarely engage in constructive debate on all sides of the spectrum. There’s around 6/7 posters on either sides who just call each other names and waiting for either side to make a post before jumping on it and having the same argument over and over again. People have jumped the gun massively here and if people really thought the club was involved in an official capacity, need to give there head a wobble. Do you honestly think a football club would align politically with a party in today’s world especially in an area like Suffolk, where political views are quite split? | | | | |

Since I made them posts, There are 3 posts calling for Ashtons sacking, Marcus Nash Sacking and even accusing TWTD of supporting the club over this? If you don’t think that’s an overreaction then I don’t know what is? The club has made it clear, there is no official involvement. You can't criticise others for an opinion on the matter and then not accept that others opinion can be critiqued as well.

Again, you have made these points, received reasoned responses, and are now just repeating them. It is not over the top to take issue with a bigot hard right politician being advertised as associated with the club.

I made the point of the 3 posts being added which is why I then made this post. You replied with only ‘nonsense’ and have now said that is a reasoned response which is If they’ve gone a private tour and taken photos and videos of a private tour which they have paid for, what do you want the club to honestly do? If they say no to the private tour, then it looks as if they’re taking sides in politics. You have to understand there stuck between a rock and a hard place and were left with not a lot of options! There quite literally polling to win the majority of seats in the May elections in Suffolk, you can’t as an organisation the size of Ipswich Town FC and how much we work with the council ignore that and put your head in the sand about it! So with no official involvement I'd be allowed to go pitch side and produce a brand video for the charity I work for? I suspect not.

Doesn't it rather depend on who's doing the associating? I'm a little behind on this story, but I'm guessing that the club didn't do anything to actively promote Farage's visit i.e. "Pleased to welcome @nigelfarage to Portman Road today." type tweet on the club's official account. Unfortunately, they won't be able to stop Reform posting about the visit on their own account.

Sorry, what?? We don't know how bad he is? We have ears, eyes and a brain Farage is pure poison.... He is one of the main drivers of Brexit that is costing UK between 100 and 200 billion quid a year Inward investment to UK down approx 15% GDP down 6 to 8 % And you say.... "Fair play to him " His loathesome brand of racism and division has soured political discourse and debate He is trousering millions from his grifting and somehow, almost beyond belief, people are still intending to give him the benefit of the doubt and vote for him and his party

We know what he's like because he's been in politics for over 30 years and his parties have generated more than enough controversy around corruption, workplace bullying, racism, sexal harassment, and sheer incompetence, etc. And he IS part of the establishment. It sounds like you have no idea who you are supporting. It's fairly easy to find out about him and his former parties if you want to.

I would reckon they have pre bought the shirt and used the shirt. I don’t reckon the club has printed his name out on the shirt and given it to him for free. I’d like to think we’re not that stupid. I’m not disputing it’s not the best look in the work however I also recognise for the club, they were very much stuck in a difficult position. I’m also disputing that the club is not involved with its activities and haven’t invited them on this tour in any official way and was purely a transaction that Reform UK paid for.

Yes, it does! They’ve recorded certain parts of the tour and cleverly edited it! I do not believe for one second we are officially involved in anyway! They have most likely pre bought that shirt and used it on the tour in there photos but I don’t think the club have secretly given him a shirt for free with his name on it. I’ve done tha tour, and nothing seems out of the ordinary, you go to the press room and sit in the seat, changing rooms (which is cleverly edited to make it look like his name is on the shirt), go to the side of the pitch etc etc.
| Massive over the top reaction on here with this Farage visit on 13:13 - Mar 24 with 1136 views | waveneyblue | Absolutely this. Watching the most of the board collectively lose their mind over this whilst not surprising, sums up the I'm right/you're wrong narrative thats always here. Even muting the idea that there should be resignations/sacking over this is utterly ludicrous. Whether you love, hate or dont really care about Farage, theres a context to this. A political party visited the club yesterday, not as guests, not specifically invited by the club, they visited. They've used the visit for publicity. The emotional outpouring is way way over the top. Why dont people have the emotional capacity to separate things nowadays ? | | | |
