Actions > words. Very easy to say you're all about diversity and inclusion until you actually have to stand up for those principles.

| Running towards adversity on 11:07 - Mar 25 with 2234 views | OldFart71 | I think some need something else to take their minds off trivial things. Whilst many may point to things that Farage is, has done or might do. He is a leader of a political party. Just as Gerry Adams is/was part of Sinn Fein. I don't see many complaining about an alleged sympathiser of the IRA, although admittedly and thankfully he didn't visit PR. Also there are many that are supporters of Farage mainly because the two main political parties won't get a grip on issues that affect us all. You decide what they are ? Those that are decrying Farage being allowed at PR are making a mountain out of a molehill. What would the outcry have been had the Greens or Labour asked to use PR facilities and the club turned them down. They would have been accused of political bias. In the world of business money is king whether we agree or not. If the Cobbold is redeveloped it will be used to make money outside of football. Arms are supplied by Britain to countries where many are killed by those armaments, but if we don't supply them then someone else will. It is unfortunately a fact of life whether we like it or not. | | | |

The club is a multi cultural football club, it had it's football for refugee programme, it supports community initiatives through it's foundation. The club very much demonstrates and promotes inclusivity through the work it does, as it should and will continue to do.

So the actions of the club prior to this meeting under Gamechanger have suggested they *don't* stand up for those principles? Or is it more the case that they've done so much good for the town and the wider county and this is simply one gross misjudgement that was hugely manipulated by the other party concerned? I must say, I was quite envious when Derby got their new owner a couple of years ago. I can't remember his name or what line of what business he made his money in, but he is a local business owner, and supporter, who has done very well for himself. All these different people and funds, and stakeholders we have really confuse me. I've never liked all of this corporate stuff that goes on in football today, and some is necessary, but Ashton courts most of it [Post edited 25 Mar 11:35]

But they get positive publicity from these things, they look good. That's why lots of corporations will do them. You only need to look at what they old did in American when Trump came in, immediately abandoning those apparently important principles when it became convienent. Or on a football note, look at Mr. LGBTQ+ Henderson who was proudly a supporter for them right up until there was some more money to be made. Making the hard decisions is where it matters. Ones where you might actually have to defend your principles.

Having an autographed shirt handed to him by Farage stating "To Mark" speaks volumes. If Ashton wants to support Reform in his private capacity he is very well entitled to like any other private citizen of this country but by using his position of ITFC CEO to de facto endorse Farage with the whole shirt signing video and indulging Reform to use the Club for their propaganda then he can just f00k off. Address the issue or step down.

The club are being used to support a political party during an election campaign. That's bad enough. Then claiming to be apolitical despite the overt political campaigning that they have allowed and not objected to is deceitful.

It's becoming apparent that no matter who is directly responsible for this, there's a good number who are desperate for it to be all Ashton's fault and put him in bed (figuratively), with Farage.

I dont think I've once mentioned the politician's name or his party. Ive actually been trying to not give them the publicity they are craving. But all people like you do is criticise me for doing so. Im a bit confused as to why you'd criticise a fan who is not impressed with the club's involvement in this farce, and have left themselves wide open for national adverse publicity. You okay with it all then? Furthermore, its Interesting that you criticise my post "where's the football gone", saying " just as well", because on your opinion I'm negative....but you've actually up voted a fair number of my posts in the past. So I cant be getting it all wrong!

Well this post is all over the place. Um, I haven't criticised you for mentioning the politician's name or his party. Nor have I criticised you for not being impressed with the club's involvement in this farce. So a couple of straw men there. I'm criticising the fact that you didn't want all these political threads... and then started a political thread. And whether or not I've uparrowed you in the past is neither here nor there. Your posting, in recent months if not the whole of this season, has been largely negative, from memory.

I personally feel that even if it was a planet blue worker who arranged it all. M/A is the self chosen CEO & Chairman who's job he's incredibly highly paid for, should know what is happening in within the company he is running. Sacked no imo But the owners should 100% imo be making sure they bring in a chairman who can hold Ashton to account over action/inactions. Having a chairman may also on the football front lead to a much better planned recruitment process. So they may yet be a positive to all this shame.
