Exactly this. If Watergate happened today, the same lot would be calling it cancel culture.

| The problem is itfcsuth… on 13:26 - Mar 27 by itfcsuth | To be honest, I remember there was a story where he was accused of saying some appalling things when he was a teenager, beyond that I don’t really remember seeing too much more because I just don’t follow politics enough - so you’d have to share his racist remarks because I genuinely don’t have that knowledge. As for a politician been a grifter, they all are, every single politician is in it for themselves first and foremost, that doesn’t matter whether it be Reform, Tories or Labour. |
Which other politicians have pretended they knew convicted sex offender Ian Watkins and sent condolences to his family for a poxy £100? So much false equivalence in your post, really depressing, and odd that you feel able to make those sweeping and misguided comments when you don't even follow politics.

I did see that, someone pranked him on Cameo or something, I would hazard a guess he had no idea who Ian Watkins was, and probably thought he was a Joe Bloggs nobody to be fair. Very silly all round nevertheless. But you don't have to be a religious follower of politics to know that there isn't an honest bone amongst them, they are in the game for themselves, nobody else but themselves, and it's incredibly sad that the ordinary person gets so engrossed with politics, when politicians do not give the ordinary person a second thought. I see things from a distance, bits on the news, bits on X, I see enough to know what they are, and you've got to be a real mug to be engrossed with politics in this country.

I'd say you've got to be a real mug to not take a meaningful interest in politics while dishing out sweeping statements about politics and politicians. It's because you aren't politically aware that you think politicians are all the same. They really aren't. And thinking they are is how we end up normalising neo-fascists like Farage.

I almost replied to your last post about all politicians being on the grift / in it for themselves, and you are far from the only person to say it on the back of this Farage business so I don't mean to pick on you specifically, but it really is not true. I personally know someone who stood as a Labour candidate and they are not how you characterise all politicians. The idea that politicians do no good is for the birds.

This is such a stupid, sad, and dangerous point of view. Of course certain politicians are terrible. Of course certain parties want voters to feel worthless, disenfranchised and angry as it's easier for them to fill the void with their right wing designs. But to have such a hatred of everybody as you seem to here implies you have no love, hope, care or compassion in the world, and cannot imagine people do do things to try to make the world better out of a place of compassion, energy and desire.

| All this just for the CEO's ego and wanting to meet Nigel Farage on 14:21 - Mar 27 by OldFart71 | It doesn't take much to change people's opinion on someone. Not that long ago he was the messiah. The best thing since sliced bread and how grateful we were to have him and that Bristol City had made a huge error. But of course all those decrying Ashton now never made a mistake, an error of judgement. As Jesus said " Those without sin cast the first stone" It has to be remembered that just as Farage is seen by some that also applies to Badenoch, Starmer and Polanski all of whom have their faults to one degree or another. The club were not in any way making a political statement. MA may have made an error of judgement but that by no means mean that he should be hung a quartered for it. |
Ffs. He's the CEO. And Chairman. The bloke runs the club. I've worked for a couple of billion dollar plus companies which have been both private and publicly listed, and the CEOs don't make these kind of errors. Or talk to their customers in the way detailed elsewhere (ref BA posts). They may think differently to the way they behave. It would be hilarious is this was at any other club. Ashton is a grifter and a megolomaniac. It's annoying because he'd been doing so much good stuff but it turns out he's an unprofessional little chancer who's been given the keys to the sweetshop. He should do one. It's not his club.

In my opinion, I know enough to make my own judgement calls, statements and opinions on politics and politicians, and that’s at my discretion if I choose too, not yours. I think it’s a shame people get caught up in politics, getting mugged off by politicians who care for nobody but themselves first. I think it’s sad, being that gullible, I actually feel sorry for you. But it’s ultimately up to you, each to their own. Have a great evening, nice takeaway and get the three lions on!
