Normally if somebody has left then you would get a automatic message along the lines of "Thank you for your email, I no longer work for Ipswich Town Football Club. Please contact the ITFC main office on ***************"
If anything this suggests he may have changed his email address as his usual account has become overwhelmed and it is hindering his ability to do business. Although I would imagine he already has other accounts that only the select few are privy to. |  |

Would you say that to the staff who have apparently contacted HR? Woul dyou say this to the players who are apparently angered? Should the sponsors who are disgruntled just stay silent? The club has made a monumental balls up and the repurcussions are Ashton's to deal with.
It is not about having a lunch. It was about allowing the lcub to be used as political propaganda, then trying to cover it up. It has damaged trust and relationships with fans, media, staff, players and sponsors. |  | | |

I would suggest he has hindered his own ability to do the job by hob-nobbing with passing political leaders and allowing them to do a publicity stunt at the club, which has stirred up an unsurprising sh1tstorm given the divisive atmosphere of current UK politics and Farage's position within that.
If it had been a private lunch without shirts and dressing-room photos plastered all over the internet, there would have no more than a bit of grumbling (if anybody had ever heard more than the odd rumour).
As it is, all of us, whether we back or oppose Reform, have been effectively lumped together with them by association through our football club. That shirt is now linked with Farage, without consultation or approval from the fanbase - and against many of the professed principles and community involvements of the club.
That's why so many people are annoyed. Ashton has taken the club we support and given it to someone a lot of us strongly do not want to be associated with. | |

I have worked for big companies and people just disappear, that is just how it works. Any shift of power is met with silence until those holding the fort put up a statement and decide on a way forward.

You still don't get the bits about it being self-inflicted, lying to the Press, putting colleagues in a difficult position, lack of good judgement, allowing the club and shirt to be used in a party political promotional video, arrogant disrespect for the feelings of many supporters, and failing to respond once it became a media storm.
Ashton did all of the above. He has damaged the reputation of the club, severely damaged the relationship between the club and media and made the situation worse with his response to staff and lack of public response.
If he had met Farage for lunch at a local hotel in a private dining room, even if Farage or he had posted a photo of them together, then that would have been entirely different. Some people would have grumbled, of course, because Farage is a deeply divisive figure, but it wouldn't have been a serious issue.
This is totally different. The multiple Number 10 shirts being printed specifically for the promotional video put it in a different category from meeting someone, and the way it has been handled since can only be described as an utterly incompetent PR disaster.
Ashton has sowed the seeds of division, destroyed trust with the media (including local media relationships) and then shown arrogance, appalling judgement and a failure of leadership and accountability over the last few days.
Is he that incompetent, or was it deliberate? Will be become the Stone Island wearing, terrace culture, anti-woke martyr and get a job organising Reform, and maybe become a candidate in a target seat?
