Spending close to £20m on Egeli seems like a more bizarre decision by the day, to my mind. Surely there would have been a proven striker in Europe we could have got for that instead.

Coventry bought him for 3million from West Brom One of the few Albion players we havnt shown an interest in. He scored a beast of goal for Albion last time we were in the Championship, took it past 5 players and jammed it home I hoped at the time we might have some I Teresa in him.

We weren’t the only ones hunting. Middlesboro spent two transfer windows looking for a striker.
| Thomas-Asante on 13:03 - Apr 26 with 2145 views | bournemouthblue | He is a very good Championship player, a smart move for Coventry that one McKenna does seem to have a blind spot for strikers, we have had trouble getting one really since we never got the extra man to rival Delap | |

I doubt Boro had £20 million to spend though.

Sure I read somewhere, that we approached him in January but the player was more inclined to stay at Oxford as he was starting every game as opposed to rotating with us. Highly rate the player, strong, holds the ball up and reasonably good at finishing.
| Thomas-Asante on 14:00 - Apr 26 with 1850 views | Illinoisblue | Thinking of how Cov have gone up would you rather clinch promotion in one game, the title in another game, and then lift the trophy in another game….. or just have one clinching game such as Huddersfield? A good problem to have. | |

It’s a great result for us and Coventry. Leaves Wrexham leaving points on last game against Middlesbrough or sweating it as both Hull and derby can over take if they don’t - at least one had game for the other potential team that could leap frog us - admittedly Millwall are the major concerns but with the town it’s always the hard way - draw again Southampton then sweating It out again qpr. Although if we need a result against qpr, then if that doesn’t bring 100% effort out of the players then nothing will

I really hope there is going to be a new plan in place whether we go up or not but it concerns me that someone with basically just Oxford and Bristol City on their CV could be in charge of PL money again after what I’ve seen in the last two years. From the 4 windows I’ve seen since original PL promotion it feels like we need an entire new team running this.

It’s not going to be the time for past inquests, but the fact that we are (likely) going to be going into another premier league season with Ashton again signing off our recruitment is very concerning.

We need a proper director of football with international connections running a top recruitment team. Not a couple of guys that has spent their entire career in the EFL involved with smaller clubs that us.
