| One slight negative 18:33 - Apr 29 with 3153 views | GlasgowBlue | We have spent most the season saying "win this game in hand or win that game in hand and we will be x amount pf points ahead in the table". We have had three games in hand over our opponents this season. Blackburn, Portsmouth and Southampton. We got a total of 2 points from our games in hand. That is pretty shit. | |

Like we were in 23/24 when Leeds effed up, but Frimmers liked that team (well apart from Burns.......) I think we've had an incredibly tough end to the season, which we've come through pretty well - thus far.

Because it was something I was thinking about and thought I'd post it on an Ipswich Town football forum.

Nah I was still moaning every week back then waveney. Try again No one hasnt said its not been a tough end. But Glasgow was correct when games in hand was well spoken about. Weve had two recently and we didnt win either. But thankfully at the moment its not caught us out. [Post edited 29 Apr 19:12]

Every season a team fcuks up, the idea is not to be that one! We were it in 81, 05, Shed Wed 23, Leeds 24. We're timing our run to perfection.

| One slight negative on 19:10 - Apr 29 with 2157 views | Illinoisblue | Still in our hands though. Trying to think how far back in the season we’d have to go to find when autos wasn’t in our hands. Maybe it’s always been that way. Saw a post from a Boro fan that showed the league table after 31 games and Boro were top with 61 points. All they had to do was get 22 points from 15 games and they’d be up. Boy they fk’d it up. | |

Two successive second tier seasons where we've had it in our hands on the final day. A far cry from those two Burley years when we were hoping Bradford and then Man City screw up. And was it Wigan in 2004-05?

Getting some painful flashbacks. Wasn’t it Jewell’s Wigan, too? Little did we know want was ahead for him and us

Yep. And Jewell's Bradford in 1999. Royle's City in 2000. Both would manage us.

It’s prevalent because we haven’t proved we can walk through the door yet. Let’s hope they do on Saturday.

| One slight negative on 22:02 - Apr 29 with 1482 views | SuffolkPunchFC | It’s less than we would have hoped for, but all the games in hand have been away games, so 1 point per game would have been par for the win your home games, and draw your away games for a promotion total. I’d say 3-5 would have been good, so we dropped short - but not by as many as you might (realistically) think on the face of it. | | | |

It’s also our joint worst run of the season with only one win in five, equalling the first 5 games of the season (1W, 3D, 1L). It’s not great form to be heading into a critical fixture, but the change back to FPR is huge and will hopefully make the difference (for whatever weird reason is going on with our home v away form this year).

I think people forget the results and how nervy the end of the 23/24 Championship season was. It was far from straightforward and convincing. After the last minute winner against Southampton we lost the next one (Norwich) and then drew the next three, home games against Watford and Middlesbrough and away against Hull before settling things with the Coventry and Huddersfield wins. Fortunately Leeds were worse.
| One slight negative on 12:15 - Apr 30 with 922 views | HighgateBlue | Sure, it would have been better to win the games we didn't win. If we beat QPR, nobody will mind which games we didn't win. If we don't beat QPR and consequently don't finish 2nd, it will be because of what happened across the season as a whole that we have fallen short. Most obviously during the early part of the season rather than the late. | | | |
