Would it possibly be better with such a vast amount of talent coming to their contract expiries, to utilise our prem TV money on maybe 5/6 wow free transfers, but of course heavy wages and then a bit on the remaining requirements. Even talksport mentioned Jones as an example. Now not saying that is possible, but is that the sort of thing we really do need to try and be in the market for and the cost is just something we really need to pay.

Indeed, but just thinking that could be the route over say £20-£30 mill signings on low/mid wages, when you could use a chunk of that funding to go towards the covering of high level wages. Not all signings obviously, but feels like we really need a core of 5/6 really solid prem experienced or equivalent signings which is gonna need a good spend on it

Lumbering the club with uber high level wages on a long term contract is a bad idea.

Do you really want us to be doing much of our critical business right at the deadline, and risk missing out? One late statement free signing on deadline day might be nice, but predicating our entire transfer strategy on it, would be lunacy imo.
| If you were MA looking at the window ahead, who would you be looking at on 22:29 - May 5 with 2953 views | _CliveBaker_ | Need a balance. Few from overseas, a few probably from the championship but top top end (ideally Hackney & Azeez types), few proven at premier league level and experienced is essential. I’d love a few really seasoned signings through the spine. A centre back alongside O’Shea in the Tarkowski mould (but not him). O’Shea isn’t a kid anymore and it’ll be his 4th season in the Prem which is a good thing, but an experienced head next to him would be nice. Same alongside Matusiwa, a Ross Barkley or Sean Longstaff type as an option, with Hackney as well. Same in the 9 & 10. Perhaps unrealistic but maybe there’s a big ticket there, could we get Harvey Elliott? Not played much at Villa, and Liverpool won’t want him. | | | |

None of those signings are going to have any resale value. So ultimately it would be money down the drain. I could see one or two but you are suggesting far more. SB

| If you were MA looking at the window ahead, who would you be looking at on 23:31 - May 5 with 2639 views | armchaircritic59 | There is one very simple equation, if you're in the PL you need a team full of PL quality players. They don't all have to come from the PL itself of course. Absolutely no point in doing the same thing as last time, it didn't work then, it won't work next time. Even " the cream of the Championship " couldn't cut it. No doubt lessons have been well learned. | | | |
| If you were MA looking at the window ahead, who would you be looking at on 00:10 - May 6 with 2591 views | Kropotkin123 | I want more arrivals like Matusiwa. Not saying he is specifically good enough or not. But, there are many players on the continent that are good enough to play in the premiership, that I don't know, are affordable for us, and likely better value than the players in the championship. I'd like us to get a couple of premiership squad players, winding down their careers, that can still put in a shift. | |

They are going to have to pull something out of the bag regarding a striker or two have no idea who can get on that front.

Need more than 5 or 6 in if we want o stay up, Can't be starting half of this team and half PL players and a bench full of champ / league 1 and expect a good ending, we would get tonked every week.

I think we're looking at about 8 that are all better than what we have, especially in Midfield and #9. Transfer strategy with Gamechanger is definitely "buy for the resale value ", so expect the vast majority to be under 25.

Ryan Yates - must be time he moved on from Forest (or similar tenacious physical type).

Obviously Delap and Hutchinson not only went because we were demoted but because of Dealps sell on clause and Hutchinsons value. Whilst it is important that we get value in the players we buy I feel that the Al Hamadi and Memeti types were bought for what they could be valued at rather than to fit into what we needed. Will we look at Vipotnik from Swansea and also the winger Aziz from Millwall if they fail to get promotion ?

I imagine you have a relegation clause in contract. Also if you have a player on a free Paying big wages I imagine you could sell for less than his worth and recoup the wages paid plus a bit more.

RB Salzburg selling 2 defenders for £20m each to Brentford and Dortmund. So much talent in that league. I’d be looking at the Eredivisie also, another division where talent is so much cheaper than shopping in the UK. Germany and France also.

Some of the South Korean's seem to be pretty impressive and there aren't many in the PL. The ones that do come over seem to have great culture and their work rate is top class. Nearly 200million population between them, just by numbers alone there has to be some gems.
