I watched a PL montage of all Town’s goals scored in 24/25. If we didn’t get Delap I think we may well have been giving Derby’s points tally a run for its money! |  |

I think hes got great potential. One big difference between him and our other right wingers, he likes to get crosses in early. |

Seen a few people saying this in the thread. I'm assuming people just haven't seen him ful!.stop because he's pretty.much Millwall's stand out player every time i have seen them and beyond that his figures are excellent. So not sure how bending impressing.
Whether he can translate it to.the prem is the question.
I would be all for it but the figures quoted seem too high. £10-12 mil and fair enough. |
Are you expecting to get a lot of players good enough for the Premier League from English football for under £15M? Does it really matter how much the club is paying for the players it does sign either?
To me, either he is worth £15-20M or he is only likely to be good enough to be a squad filler. If Millwall are willing to accept £10M, great and he is worth £20M all the better! |  |

I can't say i've seen tons of him but he does appear to be physically strong enough for the PL.
If he is the first signing, the 'buying only championship players' crowd will get loud i'd imagine. For me we need to look everywhere and dismiss nowhere for our targets and that includes the Champ.
£15-£20m does seem the figure these days for highly sought after top end Champ players doesn't it? |
Not seen much either, but that linked video shows a player who has some strength and ability to ride a challenge on top of two footed skills. A cross between McAteer and Philogene maybe? Not necessarily a better player, but a good balance.
The "Championship players = bad" fixation is utterly mental, simplistic, harmful nonsense. It's such a stupid binary argument it's unreal.

I’d want one more lower value buy from abroad as well for a punt or loan market. McAteer in PL fills me with little confidence tbh. Leicester and Ipswich squad player for last two years. Decent finish to the season but have serious doubts at the level above. [Post edited 17 May 17:46]

Buying players who were outstanding for their championship team for a premier league campaign did not work for us last time. Azeez is without doubt a talented player, but I’m not convinced he is what we need. [Post edited 17 May 17:00]

The anti-Championship all stars argument is a fair enough one, and I'm sure we won't be trying excessively to go in that direction this time round.
But that type of signings was in the minority last time round, and the major failures certainly fell into other categories too (players we'd retained did not perform well, Phillips was a let-down, and Muric clearly didn't work out right, whatever you think of him). Furthermore, the Champ all-star signings have turned out to be successful back in the Championship (Philogene, JClarke, Greaves, if not Smodders), and so they have by and large worked out OK, especially the younger ones with potential.
I don't know how true it is that our recruitment last time was as much about looking ahead to being back in the Champ, as it was about trying to stay up. I would hope not. But either way, I can't see us going for as many Champ players this time round. It neither brings certainty nor does it bring value.
I can't see us getting Hackney, but if we can, we certainly should. Azeez is one that I've been impressed by, and we'll just have to trust KMc on, but goodness, he's burned through a lot of right wingers and a fair amount of cash. I suppose it would mean that Egeli is unlikely to play a large part, Burns is likely off, and it'd be between Azeez and McAteer to fight for the spot. Can't see us binning off McAteer unless someone somewhere thinks he's worth more than half of what we paid. And that seems unlikely. |  | | |
