Farage claiming that the source of the leak about his 5m gift was Russian hacking. Whilst that is far from ideal given his public status at the moment, there doesn't seem to be any evidence and surely it is totally irrelevant?
The issue is he wasn't going to declare the gift/donation (depending on whom in Reform is answering) so why is he pushing the Russian hack angle as if it makes a difference?

Er, getting back on track. Yeah it’s a stupid attempt at distraction from Farage but not surprising. This is what he and others like him do though innit; create a false narrative to get everyone talking about that instead. Straight out of the Trump playbook, who does it far better than Farage.
As you say, it makes no odds to the original issue of him not declaring the £5m. It’s obviously hitting a nerve with Farage though, as I’d have thought he’d be better off pushing the line it was just a personal gift. There’s nothing in the rules against that as far as I’m aware. It must hurt his man of the people schtick for people to be reminded he’s bankrolled by offshore billionaires, or something.

No one makes personal gifts of £5m to people who arent't very very close indeed.
The allowance in the rule of personal gifts is so that Christmas presents etc dont get caught.
The payment is overtly political and he has already admitted that.
I would hope and expect the book to be thrown at him. A suspenion big enough for a recall is on the cards imo. | |
