Why on earth would Newcastle be after Solly March.

Poll: Will Paul Lambert be Ipswich Town manager on the final day of this season ?

Whenever we get linked along with 4-5 other clubs its usually agent planted news slop.

Can you think of any players we've actually signed that we've been linked like that?

Not another winger ffs! He’s 31 so why not just give Burns a new contract ?

Injury prone now. 31. We have an abundance of wingers.

Can’t see it.

Yep a career plagued by injury. He's an Eastbourne lad my current hometown.

Graeme Bailey is well known for spouting utter nonsense ... look at the 'exclusive' transfer stories he's done on Hackney over the past few years. I'm sure there are more.

About to turn 32, 26 goals in 300 appearances for Brighton, can't imagine the market is particularly good for him. Maybe being on a free is the only attractive element.

You need a couple of these type of players. Good pro, good squad player, good PL experience. Not a nailed on starter but improves the squad.

I’ve never read an article before which is so clearly sourced (or perhaps even entirely written by) a player’s agent:

“ March remains hugely admired within English football due to his versatility, technical quality and experience at top-flight level.”

“ Widely regarded as possessing one of the strongest and most reliable left feet in the Premier League, the former Brighton star is capable of operating in multiple positions across defence, midfield and attack — a flexibility viewed as particularly attractive by several clubs seeking experienced additions this summer.”

“ The winger is also now fully fit again after overcoming knee surgery which disrupted part of his recent Brighton career.”

“the type of experienced Premier League-quality signing capable of strengthening their squads significantly ahead of next season”

“… understood to believe March’s leadership, versatility and technical ability could prove invaluable …”

“ both clubs see March as a statement-calibre addition capable of bringing creativity, professionalism and elite-level experience into their dressing rooms”

“ proven ability to perform consistently in the Premier League”

“ he still has several years left at a high level”

“ the opportunity to sign an experienced Premier League performer on a free transfer is already being viewed as one of the most attractive market opportunities of the summer”

I mean … honestly.

He’s 31?! I thought he was early 20s. Time really does fly.

Why do you think those clubs aren’t in for Hayden? I suspect they all have watched him, great player. Young. That’s what all journos do.

March will be agent talk, and he’ll put it out for clicks, some will happen most won’t, it’s how the summer works and football.

We won’t be in for him wouldn’t think, maybe if we get desperate - agent will want a premier league club and a promoted one makes sense, might have to take a risk, but suspect he’ll have to go to the championship on loan or similar. Hasn’t played for so long.

I’m sure Wes will have options to choose from. We should wish him well whatever he decides.

Appreciate he isn't a 'sexy' name when it comes to signings but he's played about 200 PL games. Huge upgrade on Burns.

For me, he'd only be a huge upgrade on Burns if he's genuinely fit. No good signing him and he's only good for 10-12 games in the season. Very technically gifted player though and would offer great balance wherever he plays on the flanks.

Yeah his fitness is certainly important. Saying that though, I wouldn't see him as a player that comes in as a key cog that we are reliant on to stay up. He's just a very good player with lots of experience to have in the squad. I'd imagine that is how all of his suitors see him to be honest.

A great pick up as the Venn diagram for players with plenty of PL experience, on a free transfer, not on absolutely massive wages and willing to come here is very small!

Half of those are from last year where we were the only club to make an offer, that's why.

It was speculative agent driven nonsense last year so you would assume their is still a similar agent/ journalist arrangement for this summer.

I understand it's Football, I was pointing out that Graeme Bailey has history as he was the author.
