Thomas Frank Frank Lampard Robbie Keane Sean Dyche Sir Gareth Southgate Gary O'Neil Scott Parker Ange Postecoglou Brendan Rodgers Liam Rosenior Craig Bellamy Steven Gerrard Managers in post at Championship clubs who have done a decent job John Mousinho John Eustace Vitor Matos Kim Hellberg Tonda Eckert Brian Barry-Murphy Not a particularly inspirational pair of lists....haven't worried with names from foreign markets as whilst know a bit about a few of them, wouldn't know who is or isn't realistic. Plus you'd expect us to look at successful coaches as well. Lots of the names above would be total non-starters as well

Otherwise the suggestion of Rohl is a good one, did an admirable job with an aging and skint Weds squad. Also like McKenna an accomplished coach. Still struggle to see the appeal of Rosenior, underperformed with a great Hull squad, and comes across a little odd.

What's the case for Rosenior. I didn't like his Hull team at all, seemed to do better at Strasbourg but his time at Chelsea on and off the pitch was an absolute disaster.

From what you're hearing? Got sources for this? If all you actually know is that the board are coming over, that seems perfectly feasible for end of season/ Prem preparation meetings. Doesn't mean something major is afoot.

| Available managers if McKenna goes.... on 12:58 - Jun 3 with 1671 views | Vic | Thomas frank is my pick of those. he did a superb job of transitioning Brentford from championship to a settled Premier league side. And that is our next challenge. I have huge respect for Southgate and would love to see what he could do back in club management. I'm just not sure I'd want it to be with us. I don't get the dislike for rogers - he's been a very successful manager. Is he seen as yesterdays man? I used to think i could trust Ashton to have be prepared for KM's departure - but after the last few transfer windows where we've been told that we've got a list of targets and are working relentlessly to give Kieran the players he needs, only to see us come up short I'm not so sure. That and his downright lies to us - sorry but I no longer trust him. | |

Was he born in or near San Sebastian? That's where Iraola, Arteta and Xabi Alonso come from. That's what we need to be looking at.

Lee Carsley was my out of left field suggestion. However as was mentioned earlier.. McKenna was brought in as a middling L1 team and worked miracles. The risk versus reward equation has changed significantly now. So I would expect that if McK goes there would be less appetite in taking a gamble. But probably the same kind of coaching profile but at a higher level dealing with highly paid primadonnas that is need in the EFL. Anthony Barry is another great left field shout been courted for first team jobs for some years now but still a gamble. OGS has been seen around too as we know. Still think we'll look for more experience at the EPL level or similar...with proven coaching/player development traits.

| Available managers if McKenna goes.... on 11:17 - Jun 3 by soupytwist | Does no one consider Frank's lack of success since he left the Brentford ecosystem a concern? Yes, Tottenham but that, and the fact that Keith Andrews appears to have just stepped up and it's like nothing changed, would make me a bit wary. Presumably Frank had achieved enough at Brondby to make him attractive to Brentford. Was there something about him that made them think that he was the man for their system? Lee Johnson's Wikipedia page makes the prospect of him quite scary. |
I get what you are saying but it could also be the complete opposite. Look at Liverpool. Slot won the Premier League last year but it was very much still Klopps squad and his ways still ingrained. Second season Slot didnt do as well and now is out of a job. So for me, I'll judge Andrews on this upcoming season. It might well be that he is a fantastic coach, or Brenford's set up mean it's easy for coaches to go in. Or it might be that Frank did such a great job, the after affects have remained in place even despite losing a few key players.
| Available managers if McKenna goes.... on 00:28 - Jun 4 with 553 views | ArnoldMoorhen | I would go for Alex Neil ahead of most of those. Seriously. I rate Mark Robins highly, too. Obviously there is the Norwich connection, but they both play attacking football, and to the strengths of the players they have available. Of the list you provide: Southgate would be mad to come here, Lampard would be frying pan to fire. Frank is probably the best bet, but would probably prefer a safer bet elsewhere. Most of the rest have had highs and lows. Ange in particular looked in need of a good rest and a reset. Realistically, of the top list, only Dyche, O'Neill, Parker and Rosenior would consider us seriously. Of the Championship managers you list Eustace would get my vote, but it would be a massive ask for him to come into a situation where we are amongst the favourites to go down, without him knowing the players or having experience as a Manager in that League. Let's hope Kieran stays! | | | |
