Brighton appointed De Zerbi and Hurzeler
Sunderland appointed Le Bris
Palace appointed Glasner (and look like replacing him with Lens boss Sage)

If there's a job out there with all the resources available to you where you only need to do a mediocre job, but you have to do a good PR job and handle pressure well for a lot of money..... then I guess he'll get a job offer at some point.
Think if would be very smart for Sir Gareth to cut his losses and live of his England experiencem as a pundit. His CV will look better over time and we'll slowly forget all the insipid performances.

If McKenna does go this summer (I think he does btw), you would expect Ashton to already have planned for it and I’d imagine they’ll be very similar profiles to what we went for with KMc.
Personally I wouldn’t expect us to go down the obvious route of a 'name' manager or at least someone who has managed in the Prem already e.g Cooper with limited success.
I'd expect a similar model meaning a younger, highly rated coach already working at a top level club. Someone like Justin Cochrane at Spurs or Aaron Danks at Bayern (yes, a big ask I know) High-level coaches used to elite environments and focused on player development, that sounds familiar doesnt it..
*I'd throw Anthony Barry in there as well. Assitant to Tuchel.
Mousinho is a fair shout but I do think the club will be looking at the next one before everyone else does or has already taken a chance one them. That’s basically the model that’s got us here, so I’d be surprised if we moved away from it.

I think this is a fair guess and also the right thing to do. We need somebody who isn’t just a coach, as say McCarthy was, but somebody who will be invested in all aspects of the club.
The appointment of McKenna was spot on last time and it worked. It has been suggested that there was no pressure in the appointment and we could afford to gamble after Cook was fired because we were in League One, but that isn’t true.
There was a heck of a lot of pressure. We were desperate to get out of that quagmire division. The new owners were never going to tolerate gamble after gamble at the time and given the players already bought expectations were just as high in their own way.
Those who found KM and approved the appointment did a terrific job and that shouldn’t be dismissed because of recent events.
There are never any guarantees that who you appoint is the right fit in any walk of life. Those of you who’ve been involved with recruiting will know that. The appointment of Cook is a classic example. He is a terrific manager, good eye for a player and knows his stuff. But he was just wrong person, place and time for this club.
All football clubs are unique, none more so than this one. Goodness knows who will be appointed but I hope it’s not most of the names suggested on here and the very last thing we need is a ‘big name’ Lampard or Gerrard type. |  | | |

It's chalk and cheese. Sir Bobby was a great club manager for the best part of 40 years. Southgate wasn't and managed Middlesborough for a bit and won the Milk Cup.
Sir Bobby was a real footnall manager. Southgate was a figurehead and did a good job with the press and keeping the team happy.
I don't think Sir Bobby was a great England manager ( he was a better club manager) ,but he's still a better England manager than Southgate was If you want to compare CVs.... you're welcome to. | | | |

I think Frank would fit us really well if we could tempt him. He seems to be a proper club man from the relationship he had with the fans at Brentford and he would get the chance here to build something over a period of time.
He is the only one from the list that I'd be excited about. In terms of abroad, what about the Bodo Glimt manager? Unrealistic? |

Im still very much of the view that KMck stays here for a season or two more potentially longer.
Of course I know this comes to an end at some stage, but there are periodic reaffirmations, this is healthy, it gives both sides the opportunity to reflect and realign or not as will be the case at some stage in the future. It doesnt really matter, if it is this summer or another, when KMck goes it will be a big moment and risky moment we should all not underestimate. Most likely it will be either because the team is not performing or weve come to the end of the road together and the next coaching team will have a very big lift to ensure they can pick up and drive forward whatever the circumstances, most clubs dont get this right at the first time of asking.
In more recent history, post Bobby it took a couple or attempts, post Lyall it took Burley time and struggles, post George it was nearly right with BFJ but then took years of the wrong managers at the wrong time in MMs it because right manager wrong time to get to kMck.
