Plays an attacking 433 usually and flips it to 451 when required. Defensively an aggressive press.

My concern is that he’s never managed outside of Scandinavia and whilst he gets linked with every job going in England - plus Celtic and Rangers - he never lands any of them. Clearly a decent manager given his European record with Bodo, but feel it’s a unique club and we’re the sort of the job which could eat him alive. Not 100% against it - but feel it would be a massive step for him. Anyway, welcome Kasper Hogh and Jens Petter Hauge.

I think Ipswich could be the sort of place which gives him a more comfortable way into the English game than one of the other Prem outfits. In terms of club environment, atmosphere and perhaps less immediate pressure. We are more of a "family club", outside London or the major urban centres of the North. Historically more gentle on our managers than many.

We like to think of ourselves as quite a unique club as well, on our own out here in Suffolk. As you've pointed out, I suspect he knows a few good players in Scandinavia we could pick up as well. SB [Post edited 12 Jun 10:12]

The draw is always the £££, very little else for a new team in the PL.

I agree I don't think many fans will be expecting us to survive, so he's got, not a free hit, but certainly a lot less expectation on him and fans will have a lot more patience. If someone like him came in, I'd expect a few heavy losses early on during adapting after a long few years of consistency and stability, so sticking with it is important. The fact he's got any team competing or taking points from the best teams in Europe is positive. Can he do it week in week out? It's a interesting one, I'd get behind it. Won't be easy for anyone.

Such a depressingly narrow point of view, if you'll pardon my criticism. Life is brighter than money.

Said yesterday he sort of *is* Bodo/Glimt and the set-up around him has been very finely tuned to allow him to thrive. Taking him out of that environment into the toughest league in the world where we'll be scrapping for survival is definitely a big risk. His success domestically and in Europe does show he's very flexible in his tactics and knows how to play as the underdog, and it would certainly be a more exciting appointment than a lot of the names being spouted.

Ultimately there isn’t a manager that we could attract here that won’t be without risk or concern. The last chap was a relative unknown and had never managed a game in his life for example. He seemed to do ok. I would prefer this chap to many of the other names that have been mentioned personally ex Thomas Frank, who isn’t coming.

They shorten on such small bets and don't seem to be based on anything else. What am I missing? Wasn't McKenna favourite by a mile for next Fulham manager at one point? How'd that turn out. I'm off to stick £50 on Lee Johnson and watch him move to 3/1

This is true and the level of risk is much higher then an unknown/untested McKenna into L1. The European and Champions league level environments at least give him some really high level/high pressure experience but at the same time a shot to nothing scenario and adventure for them. His CV from a coach perspective looks good but this is a whole new kettle of fish. It's the sort of risk I'm ok with though. It's exciting, it's driven by progression mindset and looking to do something and not tread water/stick with an old method. Only time would tell but if we are going to take a risk it's not a bad one. I still think Ole has a very similar CV but he has tons of prem.experience and knows our club. Both are decent options.

Lots of lower PL and Higher Championship clubs have been appointing managers over the last few years, yet none have gone for him. (unless he turned them down of course) Going by what I have read about him, he seems a very good manager and I would be very if he were to come here.
