Sunderland before they get tired from Europe, United before the Carrick honeymoon inevitable wears off is bad.

But Liverpool before Iraola has his system in place and those clubs having lots of players at the WC is good.

Let's be honest, it was always going to be tough.

Coventry have Arsenal and City away in their first 3.

Hull have Man U and Villa in theirs.

Arguably best time to play big teams is early, especially with WC disruption.

Don't forget, this time around - it won't be Marcus Harness and Al Hamadi coming on at 60 mins like we had against Liverpool and City.

It'll be Jack Clarke, Nunez et al and others.

Final 5:
Leeds
Fulham
City
Forest
Everton

I’d take the hard start to have winnable games like that in the run-in.

if you extend out to the start of November, it's not too bad actually.

Yep, agreed.

If push came to shove, we could easily get 7 pts out of that lot.

Which is 33% of what we achieved in total last time!

There was some analysis on here a couple of weeks back that said that promoted teams who survive tend to get at least 7 points from the first five games. I’d say our first five is about average in terms of difficulty, so it just shows how hard the season is going to be.

Why does this get mentioned? Going up means you have to play them teams, twice.

If you want a nice start we should have stayed down

Coventry twice in about a month again.

Trips to Sunderand and Newcastle in the space of a fortnight.

No, not really. But a Hull, Cov, Fulham, Leeds, Forest would’ve been nice…

We were down before we even got started last time. We desperately need a win early doors next season..

Keep the faith . Sunderland will be our first win followed by a draw from the other two games

Exactly my thought. If we still have something to play for at that point, there are points to be taken from those (and if we are still in it, we'll have been ok to that point).

Easy 9 points!!!

Jokes aside, no reason we can't get a win vs Sunderland. The other 2 are literally free hits. No Idea how good those teams are yet. Hopefull;y got World CUp hang over players.

Lets not get negative before we've kicked a ball. Every game is tough, lets face it.

Trouble, that games that may look winnable at the moment can look very different once the season gets under way. At this point last season we'd have said that Brentford, Brighton, Sunderland all looked winnerble - then look what seasons they had!

Im happy with Sunderland at home first game. A real opportunity to get a point or maybe 3 on the board. Perhaps; maybe with a fair wind! Somehow, by hook or by crook we really need to make a better start than last time.

I always felt like we needed a reasonable run of the ball v the euro teams.

Be interesting to plot those weekend fixtures up to Xmas.

Don't think that factor counts for much - in fact those players may start sharper, fitter & more confident as a result of their WC experiences

having liverpool early doors is quite handy as we can see how this new side compares to our efforts in the last liverpool home fixture.

Great fixtures considering the proximity of the season start to the World Cup. We play everyone twice, so getting teams with lots of players who have been playing through the summer is Ideal.
