“I’ve told my team to keep me away from the noise”, then goes on to rant about the noise he’s been told about by his team with people discussing who’s been spotted in Ipswich.
Just to add to the noise, heard from mate at ManU that OGS turned down Wolves job, and is discussing backroom staff he’d like to hire from United.
MA and the club knew two weeks before then as per MA interview on Talksport, straight from his mouth "he told us a few days after the end of the season"
Some people love to over analyse every last word he says. Looking for something to criticise. If he didn't say anything, the same people would be moaning about the lack of news.
Not criticising, I just think it’s funny. He’s marmite but I think he’s doing a cracking job and we’re lucky to have him.
Do you think it's OGS? Or just saying if it is him he would likely bring Dempsey?
Was more the fact that’s one staff member who I think he’d bring with him. I imagine similar conversations would be happening with O’Neill, who has Neil Critchley with him at Strasbourg, as well as another member of staff he took from Wolves.

It’s a vibe come on. He reeks of it. We’ve all met people like him. We know who he is.
He should not have full control of the club. It’s asking for trouble.
The EADT report that it will be OGS or GON. I’d suggest that means we’ve struggled to attract a boss.
If it turns out to be wrong then I’ll reassess.
And yes I’d say we’ve achieved three promotions despite our recruitment. I’d say mediocre rather than appalling.
Absolute nonsense. It's one of the biggest jobs currently available in world football. The Premier League is massive. Combined with the fans, the ownership group, the ambition etc there is so much here for a manager to build on.
And no, because I know how some like to take it to extremes, I am not suggesting Guardiola and Klopp would have applied. I am just saying it's absolutely certain that we will have had lots of interest.
he could say that it's sunny today, and some people would claim it as evidence of his deep psychological unsuitability.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

I know, though it's nearly 4 weeks, where's the manager? After all he had lists of replacements for every position and the manager...he's told us all that multiple times over the years
Because we want to. If we wanted a manager from a club in the Championship or in most leagues in the world we could likely tempt them here.
Neither are the most exciting appointment but they both make sense. We need to survive in the Prem. If we get established then i'm sure we will be looking for a manager who can build on that. Right now, we're clearly going all in on surviving. If we go down I can't see either of them keeping the job in the Championship but in the Prem, it makes sense even if it is uninspiring.
Here's to another 5 years of trouble like the last 5
Gamechanger and McKenna have brought that success.
Ashton deserves credit for lots of things. But don’t let him convince you that it’s impossible without him. And that he needs to be CEO and Chairman and head of recruitment and everything else. It’s dangerous.
Don’t overlook character just cos things are going well because one day they won’t be and it’ll cost you.
Anyway I’m logging off now as I’ve probably got Ashton Derangement Syndrome.

people who are highly driven and successful are often atypical. i thought we were all for diversity and different personality types?

For me, a telling quotation was when Ashton disclosed that ‘one of the board members in particular was really, really clear with me, ‘you take away all the noise, Mark, and you do your job’.
I may well be overthinking this but that seemed to be - in Ashtonlish - that he will certainly carry the can if the next appointment backfires.
What? as you can see, i'm questioning someone who's labelled him as having 'small man syndrome'.
so nice try, but as ever you've missed the man as well as the ball.

You can surely agree with that without losing any edgelord points?
Better check your calendar Budders! Resigned on 9th June.
McKenna Leaving Town to Take Time Away From Football10th Jun 2026 18:00 Town manager Kieran McKenna has sensationally decided to step down from his role at Portman Road and take time away from football management, the club has announced.195
"Town have known about McKenna’s decision for a couple of weeks and Ashton will have begun work on finding the man to replace him"
...also here on talksport
so yes KM resigned on the 9th but the club and MA knew about two weeks before then.....nearly 4 weeks and still no manager at a crucial crucial time for us. Thought MA had lists and we are always protected.
