Did Brum win it?

I ask because I've only ever done posh seats a couple of times and one was to watch Brum and I was sat next to the directors box. At HT I saw the Birmingham City trophy cabinet and there were only 2 trophies, an autoglass thingy and an Atari soccer six trophy.

I laughed a bit too loudly, querying if an apprentice had won a gaming tournament 🀣

For those wondering, the inter city fairs cup win ( *pre runner to Uefa Cup) was at a time when it was a tournament between cities that had fairs. The City of Birmingham was represented by Birmingham City but the trophy stopped with the City rather than the club.

I hearby claim today's award for useless niche football knowledge.

Just had a Google, useless muppets didn't even win the Fairs cup, twice came runners up.

Reckon the second trophy might have been a league cup win. Would have been around 95...

That was after I went. Was mid 90s, was working for Bass who sponsored the league cup (Worthington or Carling?) and my landlord was a big Cov City fan. He asked me to sort him and son out for a cup game Brum v Cov

I'll Google it...Big Ron was Cov manager and sacked soon after.

Google says Ron A sacked in Nov 96 so got that bit right.

Edit. Google says was Coca-cola. Worthington not for a couple of years. My boss had gone to Coke a few months earlier so reckon he sorted us.

That's quality.

When I lived up there the Villa fans used to mock the Brum fans for their lack of silverware (hence why I know about the Fairs Cup not being a proper trophy when only open to Cities and not even needing to finish high to enter)

Last ditty from me is from when I did the Nou Camp stadium tour around 84. I found myself alone in a room with various footballing memorabilia including a pennant given to them by some Suffolk club in the Cup winners cup QF (?) in 78/79 season.

For a couple of minutes I thought about the rights ans wrongs of taking it but opted not to liberate it and relocate it to my bedroom wall.

Did they even have cctv in 84?

If I remember rightly, at one time Mariner used to paint Adidas stripes on his boots as he was meant to wear them but preferred Puma.

Is that similar to when you used to do an 80s era Alan Brazil tribute act?

They are brothers...

(Adidas & Puma)

Rudolph disagreed with brother Adolf 'Adi' Dassler about the direction their fledgling company was going in, so went off & started Puma

Birmingham City won the 1982–83 Atari Soccer Sixes tournament. They defeated Ipswich Town in the final on penalty kicks (4–3) after the match ended in a 2–2 draw. This victory allowed Birmingham City to successfully defend their crown, having also won the inaugural indoor tournament the previous year.

Not sure if this is the same year or the year before. But it's amusing that Barry Davies' commentary is so straight laced for such a knockabout!
