No doubt we had our pants pulled down on the price for McAteer but that's not his fault, and he contributed more and more as the season went on. He's got pace, a bit of Premier League experience, and is still only 24. If Egeli makes the steps we al hope he will and is ahead of him then great, but he isn't at the moment, and as someone else had said Egeli may be better in a central role anyway. |  | | |

I think that several positions will be looked at. If believed we are looking at another defender. Will he be cover or in place of ?
Burns cannot be number one in his position. No way should Egeli be loaned out, for a player new to the Championship which in some respects demands different attributes than the Premier league he may be better suited to the higher league. Sometimes he looked lost, but showed glimpses of how good he could be and not taking up a place in the squad it makes sense for him to be kept within the squad.
It could be said that although McAteers fee was too much he actually paid for his fee with the last half dozen games earning Town a return to the Prem supposedly worth over £200 million.
Although we will have to attack teams it seems the approach may be more a case of breaking forward quickly when the chance arises rather than being open as we were when last in the Premier League.
Davis has been an excellent servant but was found wanting and exposed a lot. Can we do without him or do we need him when we break quickly with his overlaps and service to Philogene and Clarke. That leads on to Philogene,with the rumours that a couple of foreign teams want him. But given the need for a substantial fee can they afford him and even if they could last season that position was responsible for a majority of our goals. | | | |

He's still our most reliable player down the right hand side whatever formation we play. It's up to the recruitment team/Ashton to find and sign someone that is a big upgrade. Hopefully McAteer kicks on this season - he will have to because O'Neil won't have any loyalties to a player he didn't sign. A handful of promising showings towards the end of the season but Burns was still the one we trusted in those games vs Southampton/QPR. | | | |

Apparently GON has played with two "wide" 10's previously (source: KOA) so that might actually suit him being that right-sided 10 where he is able to shoot with his left foot from a more central location.

I think he's got a possible high ceiling so given he doesn't count towards the squad count it's probably worth keeping him around and training with the better players we will have in the squad compared to any team he goes on loan to.
He might be needed more than we think if there are injuries etc.
