Why would O'Neil liking hard working teams be a black mark against Jaden Philogene, who is one of our hardest working players and best players off the ball. That is arguably his best attribute.
If you have concerns about his size or how he will measure up against elite full backs that's a different conversation but hard work is not an issue. |

We've just shelled out 20+ million on a player we literally have no idea what he will do. It's the game we need to take but i'd rather have Jaden on our books than take a punt.
Jayden hasn't had a chance at PL level yet, nothing can be assessed on the pervious PL campaign as he was basically injured.
We also need a little bit of continuity...we need to hold on to a few core players and i'd rather the ones we did are the better ones of which Jaden is clearly one. We don't really need to raise funds to improvee the squad. Selling any saleable assest will be a requirement if we are relagated to ensure we're in line with financial fair play but we are able to invest significantly this season without selling our best assets. |  |

I actually though at times last season the bad games that Jaden had were when he struggled on the ball and couldn't get in to the game or create enough. But even in those games he would give you something off the ball [Post edited 9 Jul 14:22]

For me the argument on the pitch seemed to be more about when and where Philogene was trying to win a foul. In that game the ref had a high bar for physical contact and Philogene (and others in the match) didn't adjust well to it - they kept going to ground trying to win fouls that the ref wasn't giving. In other games that tactic worked well where the the ref had a lower bar for physical contact.
It didn't seem to be anything to do with his effort levels which I think are consistently high and were fairly regularly remarked on by McKenna. |  |

I think ultimately if money we deem appropriate comes in and Jaden wants to go, the clubs hand does feel kind of forced.
But as you say, we have soooo much to do this summer. The LW Position is the one I would feel most confident just leaving alone and going with Clarke and Jaden. If we can go and get a proper threat for that right hand side as well (if that is the system GO will play) that should also give more space for our left side who were doubled up most of last season. |  |

I think Clarke offers much more than Philogene . I dont think we'd miss Philogene if he left ... he only seemed to perform at home anyway, and if defences blocked his cutting in on his Rt leg , he didnt offer much else as a threat in my humble opinion. Much better out there I think. |  |
