| Bad news if Philogene leaves on 08:37 - Jul 17 with 2899 views | TownieRob | He's definitely one of our better players, but it does seem to come at the expense of a bit of unrest. Does anyone else find the 'is he staying or is he leaving?' rumours every transfer window a bit tiresome? I can't imagine that's the best way to build a squad with everyone pulling in the same direction. Is it actually his fault? Does he even want to leave? We don't know. That said, I've got two thoughts. Firstly, there's usually no smoke without fire. Secondly, just look at the saga before he joined us. And if it is all coming from his agent rather than the player himself, then I think he's being advised badly and/or he's got the wrong agent. | | | |

If we are going to be successful, then I think we need to get past this sort of view. If you are doing well then you have good players and other teams will always want those good players.
| Bad news if Philogene leaves on 09:00 - Jul 17 with 2780 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | It is also just another position we would then have to buy for. We have so much work to do, a scary amount. Ideally we should not be adding to that work by selling our best players. | |

I do hear this perspective but every couple of months or every window? - I find it tedious. I'm sure the club does also. FWIW dont think he cuts it in the PL. He's neither strong enough or has an extreme pace. I don't think he gets that yard when he cuts in from the left onto his right. If he stays of course, im singing his name first game of the season but I do find it all very boring the is he/isnt he going..
| Bad news if Philogene leaves on 09:17 - Jul 17 with 2629 views | Blooos | I would definitely rather keep him than sell him, however if you can get £30-35m I'm sure there is better out there for that price. Physically not sure if Jaden can cut it in the prem. I feel if we keep JC and Jaden the left side is pretty settled. Both good on the counter/ transitions and can make a goal out of nothing. | | | |

Phil's story this morning quoting a town source saying we wouldn't stand in his way, is probably all we need to know.

| Bad news if Philogene leaves on 10:24 - Jul 17 with 2379 views | EddyJ | I've been outspoken on here before about our left wing. Whilst Philogene and Clarke are clearly two of our most gifted players, and each contributed some great moments last year, I feel like they were overall detrimental to the players around them. Inverted wingers are naturally selfish. You are taking away their ability to provide in exchange for the added goals they will score. Most of our attacks were terminated by Clarke or Philogene shooting or losing the ball whilst attempting to shoot. Perhaps that is justified if they score a lot of goals. Clarke and Philogene scored 28 last season. That's a good return. They only got 4 assists. And we never looked cohesive as a team. Had we had players that were primarily providers rather than scorers on the left wing (but of a similar ability level to Clarke and Philogene), I think we would have been more effective overall. If Philogene wants to go, let him. Make a profit. Sign a better player and keep Clarke as the backup. | | | |

| Bad news if Philogene leaves on 10:39 - Jul 17 with 2321 views | cressi | Who says his one off our best at Premiership level came into a struggling Premiership side last time round didn't do anything of note to show he was Premiership quality. Villa were happy to get rid Very good championship player and grateful for last year's contribution .But if he wants out good bye good luck and we move on and reinvest the money elsewhere | | | |
| Bad news if Philogene leaves on 10:42 - Jul 17 with 2314 views | WD19 | Not helpful at all, but if he doesn’t want to be here then I am not sure how useful he would be. We can’t have a core part of our first team turning up only when he feels like it. Equally depressing is the string of folk in the comments appending imaginary selling prices to the situation (typically £40-50m) purely so they can be outraged when we inevitably sell for less. We paid just under £20m for him and he wants out. We will do well to get anything above £25-28m under the circumstances. I don’t buy into the Ashton football-genius hype, but if he can get us £30m he will have done well. | | | |
| Bad news if Philogene leaves on 10:47 - Jul 17 with 2272 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | There is no issue for me if he wants to go and challenge himself abroad (if the links I have seen are genuine), however, what we must do is replace him and get his replacement in before he's allowed to complete a move away. I have said it elsewhere previously but he is a player who is perhaps not quite at the level of the PL for his position, but is above the level of the Championship. He would suit a move to a European league for the next stage of his career. | |

I think the issue with him "challenging himself abroad" is that none of those named suitors are going to pay the kind of big fee we'd want for (effectively) a Championship player.

| Bad news if Philogene leaves on 10:57 - Jul 17 with 2233 views | Trequartista | It will certainly be a blow but at least it will allow Mehmeti to move to his favoured position on the left to compete with Clarke. We will still need two attacking central midfielders though unless O'Neil decides Akpom is good enough for one of those spots. | |

I like Mehmeti, but in all honesty think we need better than him if we are going to compete in the PL. Clarke had a superb season and carried us at times, I hope he can have more impact this time round. Philogene is a good player, but if he’s not happy we should absolutely let him move on (hopefully at a profit). Some of the clubs quoted certainly don’t seem an upgrade so one wonders what’s driving the frequent moves (agent?).

Clarke and Mehmeti on one side and maybe Akpom in attacking midfield. Would be an interesting watch.

| Bad news if Philogene leaves on 11:12 - Jul 17 with 2156 views | glasso | I'm not too fussed if he goes (as long as we replace him well, of course). Good player, but never really felt like he wanted to be here or was here for the long run, which is fine, but it is what it is. If you told me we'd buy him, have *that* goal against Norwich and then sell him for a profit, I'd have bitten your hand off. | | | |

Having seen this criticism a fair bit, I am left wondering what sort of physical profile are we expecting from a left winger? Who's the archetype here? I look down the list of prolific Premier League wingers from last season and there's not a huge amount of bulk. Semenyo fits the bill. Not many others really.

| Bad news if Philogene leaves on 11:35 - Jul 17 with 2071 views | Vic | Seems to me like he's a bit like a wandering minstrel. Doesn't seem to settle anywhere for long. That a shame because he;s a decent player, but I don;t think he'll go to the very top. If he goes we have Clarke, Burns and Egele (who I suspect might surprise us this season) plus A N Other winger yet to be signed but who I reckon will be better than any we currently have. We'll be fine without Billy Jean. | |

| Bad news if Philogene leaves on 12:00 - Jul 17 with 1942 views | franz_tyson | If he does stay.... you can be assured there'll be more talk and unrest in the next transfer window. Think he has ants in his pants and doesn't see Portman Road as his home. More of a stepping stone. In which case, thanks and good luck. If I see a bit more commitment to us, I'd think differently. | | | |

It depends what the club value him at. Based on here and other social media platforms, I have seen between £20m-£40m which is very broad. My personal opinion is that I would currently value him at the £20m-£25m bracket with add ons to push the fee to the high 20's value. I think he is a good player. He has produced moments of brilliance, been consistent overall and has had a great season. I think there are physical limitations that will halt his development at becoming a player who could stay and play consistently in the PL though.

| Bad news if Philogene leaves on 12:14 - Jul 17 with 1834 views | dirtyboy | We have Mehmeti, Clarke and Philogene. If we can get a big fee for one of them (Philogene likely the most likely) then we can free up a huge sum for extra trading. Clarke had more goals per 90 More xG per 90 the same non pen goals per 90 He's better in possession too. Philogene was better defensively, Clarke better offensively. I'm not happy, but i'm very comfortable for the overall benefit when we have a position covered. £50m beast in midfield incoming. | | | |
