To be honest, in my look through a few pages of their fan firm I found them to be very generous, eloquent and happy for him and all he'd done there.

As a man with a foot in both camps, I have been surprised that the signing has been quite as excitedly welcomed, he's not always been a first choice at Celtic and has some huge technical inadequacies in his game that he got away with at SPL level, but I do have concerns about at Premier League level.
All that being said, stick him in the right role, in the right team and I do think he will be very useful. I know his contract is running down, but ÂŁ10 million is still quite an investment for a player that is still a bit of a gamble.
I've seen local press and podcasts refer to him as the best player in the SPL, multiple times- which anyone who's actually watched the SPL on a regular basis will know isn't true, but it sounds good- doesn't it?

From the little I've seen of him (just highlight reels) he reminders me of Stephen Hunt - tenacious, hard working, always on the move, not the most technically gifted but gets into good positions and makes good runs. Interested to hear from your experience would you say that's a fair comparison or not? |  | | |

I think they're in a huff over a multitude of failings. They got really lucky last year, didn't invest well or enough, Rodgers was begging for signings.
Rangers have made what on the face of it looks like some astute busines and Celtic have signed 1 (soon to be 2) player They had the option to extend Iheanacho's contact by a year but offered him a new one instead allowing him to move, O'Neil says he wanted to keep him. Their (arguably) best player has just been sold to us. Hearts have lost their manager and 2 best players (all to Rangers) and have still set about a rebuild adding plenty of bodies. Meanwhile Celtic are almost at a standstill. The Scottish season has technically started (though not for them) with the league cup group stage and the league proper is a couple of weeks away and it seems they are just making the same mistakes as last season, no clear direction of travel, no clear targets. Just inertia. |  |

It's exceptionally slim pickings but who in that league is better than Maeda? I don't think anyone runs him close to being honest. As a package I think he's comfortably the best in the division (though I'm not saying there isn't a better technical player than him with other deficiencies). Engels maybe?
The two old firm clubs are essentially lower champ standard now with 2-3 players that could play lower prem/upper champ. It's a shame but that division is a shadow of it's former self.

I think there’s a number of players who are better footballers- for sure!
No, they’ll never let Celtic join the English football league, time for that was in the early 2000’s, before Rangers died and when both were at their peak.
It’s a shame, not just for Celtic but Scottish football, which arguably, would be better without Celtic and Sevco FC (although maybe not financially…)
