I do love a good badge analysis.
There does seem to be a fashion lately of using old ones on away kits - Leeds had their smiley 70s one, Sunderland had the old oil tanker sailing across red and white stripes, and it seems Wolves have reverted to their coat of arms badge on their home shirt. Looks like it's their 150th next year, so that might be why.
Must admit, as it's our 150th in 2028, wouldn't object to a spruced up version of the pre Suffolk Punch badge as a one off next year. |  | | |

The original badge is the Ipswich Coat of Arms. I'm not an expert in trademark and copyright, but I'd have assumed you can't get protection on a several hundred years old coat of ams. |  | | |

I don't think it couldn't be used, even though Ipswich Wanderers have used it, or a version of it, for years.
I updated it in 2022 to the current version of it (as the previous version they were using looked awful!) but it is pretty much the same as IBC use.
