This could be just like Trump with his tariffs though - announce something so incredibly stupid that gets everyones back up, then once things have calmed down, change it to something that's a bit more palatable that still makes shedloads of cash for those running it.

At the same time. For FIFA "money talks" and it is very likely sponsors will think that the value being a sponsor of FIFA has decreased quite some bit if Europe is not a part of it, so I suppose they will be less willing to pay the inflated prices. Likely the global medie interest in the tournament will decrease, as will the peoples will to buy tickets to a WC without Europe, etc etc. This is the right move for Europe. Hopefully South America will follow. |  |

I suspect Spain and Portugal would decline to host, and they'll find two other countries. Probably the US again and more games in Argentina.

We need qualifiers, but because they are expanding the World Cup so much it makes it easier to qualify so matches have less jeopardy. We should scrap the Nations' League instead.

We should have boycotted the World Cup just gone & at least the one before and thereby nipping the problem in the bud (although still not quite).
I very much felt this over the last 12 months, but of course once the proper football started, I didn't have the courage of my own convictions, & watched a number of matches. It did please keep however, that the final game, when they had their biggest audience, & no doubt a lot of Americans would have tuned in out of curiosity, was a cynical shocker that must have confirmed some negative opinions about the beautiful game. | |
