I'm just starting to worry a tiny bit. 13:36 - Jul 31 with 4809 viewsAxeldalai_lama

Someone please tell me I'm being a massive wet blanket.

I'm not one of those proud numpties who have been loudly panicking since May, and I'm absolutely happy with our business so far. But this week has just got me slightly jittery. It's just starting to tip the scales towards taking 'too long'.

And again I'm patient and a happy clapper, so I'm not expecting the moon on a stick and will probably be happy again after a couple more signings. But I'm now definitely not in 'its all good, it'll take whatever it takes' mode, I want stuff to start happening pretty soon, to be comfortable again. Yep I know, hugely entitled.

So please can people just tell me I'm being a wazzock and I'll be calm again. Maybe. Thanks.

Yep, you’re a wazzock. I’m a wazzock too. I’m still scarred from last time and think we’ll get hammered. In fact getting hammered may end up being my coping strategy lol

There was a view on transfermarkt last week, which I can't seem to navigate to now, which showed aggregated numbers of transfers in per PL club. When you took out loans and 'internal transfers' (between Xxx U21 and Xxx - who knew they were a thing) Town were joint top of the league with 6. That might have changed now, but there's not huge amounts going on yet, so it's the same for all clubs.

I like what we've done so far too.

I'm happy to say I'm not confident we will survive if we do not invest the heaviest in the CMs/CDMs.

However, I'm not worried about getting relegated. I think we are in a good place for next season, at the very least.

Thanks everyone. Anyone want to tell me everything is all going to be alright and we'll put up a robust and point laden attempt to avoid relegation?!

Yeah, that makes sense. I think it's the sudden peak and then a drop off to nothing that has got me both reassured initially and then a bit left wanting more.

Come back in a couple of weeks. It's always like this when there is a world cup.

We might not have players 'settled' for a couple of games but we need to make sure we are getting the right players. We're paying a lot of money with fees and wages. We need to look at the big picture of a 38 game season and years long contract rather than worrying about the Sunderland game too much.

When you feel like this, think about picking your phone up and ringing the club and asking for the recruitment team. Tell them your concerns and they will either say: 'Thank you, we hadn't thought about this, we'll get straight on it.' Or they will say: 'We are working on deals all the time and as soon as everything has tied up, the club will make an announcement as we have done so far six times in recent weeks.'

Most people would expect the latter response. And if that is the case, then chill out, the club will be working hard on a number of deals and there is nothing you, I, or anyone else outside of those involved in the recruitment side of things can do about it in any case. Simple.

Think of all the factors that will be involved for all parties. Especially given the market we are now trying to shop in.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, you're a Wazzock alright :)

The Arctic is melting, Dunwich Heath is burning, AI is taking our jobs and fascism is making a nostalgic comeback. We're one bad harvest away from fighting over tins of beans, and you're emotionally unravelling because Mark Ashton hasn't announced a 23-year-old CM from Ligue 1.

If we get one you'll celebrate for half an hour, and then immediately start asking whether we need another right back (we do, don't we?). If we don't, the sun will still rise, the seas will still rise faster, and we'll all continue our majestic march towards whatever flavour of apocalypse history has picked for us.

Have a cup of tea. Touch some grass while it's still classified as a biome, and stop letting your emotional stability be determined by 22 millionaires chasing a bag of air around for 90 minutes.

Easier said than done, granted.

The team can only work on so many deals at once!

5 deals in a short period of time takes an immense amount of organisation/ time etc especially when you are talking about big fees/ wages.

Then you have to remember that there is a huge amount of strategy to a rebuild like this. They need another 7/8 players and have 90 odd M to spend. Do you pay more to get a first choice now, do you move onto the second choice etc etc

If this goes on for another week , I think you should be inclined to be a tiny bit worried, yes.

You say you're patient, right there in the middle. You're not really saying it in the rest of your post though.

I get it though, you're worried after the experience of last time, and I think that's fairly understandable. Wazzock.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

It was a busy week last week and a quiet one this week.

We cant afford anymore quiet weeks after this imo. The squad need so much work.

I was convinced we’d see a lot of departures this week. Seems a slow summer in the Championship as well. Some players I’d rather off the books than constant loans but guess there’s financial obstacles for that from below.

A weeks is a long time when there was only a month to go the start of the season. As my thread said the other night, I still want to see 7 or 8 in but I’m concerned it will be closer to 5, we need to get busy for sure.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

Yes and no. I'd like us to at least be in the position we were in with Maeda, Scherpen et al with a couple more now where you expect them to be announced any day. With the size of the task you'd hope a couple more would land next week - preferably early.

However... i'd suggest with Taylor and Hirst suddenly being linked away (not necessarily players i'd expected to leave)... we must surely be getting down the line with incomings in those roles. Surely? Please?!

i'm less worried by any signings than by the change of manager and the inevitable massive turnover of players.

could be another season of gelling without the certainty that o'neill knows exactly what we need in the end.

anyhoo, what will be will be. we'll be one of the 3 favourites for relegation whoever we buy and we might just overachieve and surprise us all!

You’re being a wazzock. What will be will be.

We are not at the top of the transfer ‘food chain’, finding the right players for what we need isn’t easy and believe it or not, not every player would crawl over broken glass to play for this club or live in Suffolk.

Chill out.

Leicester won the league with a back four of Fuchs, Morgan, Huth and Simpson.

Kante and Mahrez were both dirt cheap.

Yes, it was quite the anomaly of a season, but if it clicks then there's a chance.
