Rumours circling now . Be interesting if we go for a loan with 2 upfront.

Shush, do not excite me this early in the morning.

We'd be mad to turn that loan down if it's really an option.

Outstanding for us in the Prem last time, one bad stop/start season for Chelsea does not make him a bad player.

RIP Sir Bobby

Last I read was that Newcastle or Everton would be his new team for £40 million. Not quite sure where they got that figure from, but if he’s got the choice of us or those two were at the bottom of that list. He couldn’t wait to leave midway through that season so I doubt he’d want to return.

I was a big Delap fan when he was here, thought he was excellent in a poor team, however I am not sure on going back down this route if the "rumour" has any foundation to it.

Which PL club hasn’t been linked with Delap in the past few weeks? Chelsea / his agent must be promoting him hard. Rumours are £40M+, and Chelsea only interested in a straight sale, or loan with obligation to buy.

Don't think this one needs a rumour tbh.

Ashton has kept very close relations with Liam, and imagine if he wanted to do a deal both Liam and Chelsea would listen, and is more than feasible and the natural path if there is nothing else on the table (which there may well not be).

Bad move in my eyes. Id prefer Jackson. Liam had a good four months for us and was average the rest of the time. I would not do a deal with chelsea either as they will always win. Perhaps the season loan is the only way I'd be content. Just think there are better deals out there, somewhere.

I'm not sure Kayden is the answer.......

Oh you mean Nicholas? Keep dreaming. No way he comes here.

£40m?

Knowing Chelsea's ability with sales more likely £60m.

Half a season of purple patch in the Prem doesn't make him a good player either. Depends how much they want in terms of fee and wages.

I mean, that's completely made up. There are no legitimate sources linking us to him.

That said, we'd be naive not to have at least sounded out his agent to gauge interest initially. I'd say the fact that we're not linked is likely due to us being shut down at that stage and it progressing no further.

He's a big, physical striker, with a track record of having scored double figures in the Premier League. He'd be a good fit unquestionably. But he'd also be a good fit for about 15 other teams in this division.

I just don't think he's interested.

No sorry he got found out second half of the season with us, more interested in trying to smash defenders than play football and was so greedy especially second half of the season. Certainly didn’t play for the team and don’t think he’ll be any different this time. Especially if he’s on loan.

The fact he chose Chelsea shows his mindset, they were never going to develop him as a player which he certainly needed.

It would be stupid not to entertain it. One season doesn't define a player, especially a young player at Chelsea.

Be surprised if it happens. Would feel like Delap admitting defeat a little, frankly he can do better than a relegation fighting team.

Even if it did happen, it would one of those stupid deals where we pay £30 million plus and extra £20 million if we stay up, and they can buy him back for £10 million if we go back down.

Whatever happens, we will end up paying well over the odds if we get to keep him, or losing she'd loads in what becomes a very expensive season loan.

Not saying he wouldn't be a good signing, but we need to start looking at how a player trading system becomes sustainable.
