The transfer market continues to spring surprises; even without formal offers on the table, inquiries and rumors are generating great anticipation—especially regarding our Paraguayan players. Three Paraguayan stars frequently mentioned in transfer discussions are goalkeeper Orlando Gill, forward Julio Enciso, and midfielder Matías Galarza. Naturally, these players performed well at the World Cup while representing the *Albirroja*; following their campaign, inquiries from major clubs have poured in, though the reality is that their situations are being handled with great discretion. The latest news involves Ipswich Town in England: the club is keen to bring back Julio Enciso—currently with Racing Strasbourg—specifically pushing for a loan deal. It is worth noting that Julio played for the team between 2024 and 2025, so he knows the club well. Furthermore, an unusual scenario could unfold in this market, as the club is also seeking a goalkeeper. Their target is Orlando Gill; despite receiving numerous offers this window, he remains with San Lorenzo de Almagro, where management claims not to have received any formal bids. Finally, the question arises: could Ipswich bet on a third Paraguayan? It turns out midfielder Matías Galarza is also on the English club's radar. Metaphorically speaking, this would create a "Guaraní triumvirate" ruling the pitch for the team and making their mark on the Premier League itself.

Surely we don't need a 3rd goalkeeper? I remember being linked with Gill earlier in the window, but that time has surely passed.

If the plan is to send Van Oevelen out on loan and to sell Palmer then I can definitely see why we’d want another one.

Scherpen
Gill
Walton

Button as training keeper.

Makes sense.

Perhaps we want Gill in case we have to play at Blackburn in the cup?

Could also explain the links I haven't seen with Fin Azaz and Trout Alexander-Arnold.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

Gil isn't coming here to sit on the bench surely.

I would imagine it would be sold to him (and Scherpen - for that matter), that no place is guaranteed.

The other point - and which I hope we do more of - is that we see it as a ‘market opportunity’. Sign him for say, £6-7m, plays half a dozen games and hope he does well - sell him next summer for £15-£20m.

Yeah, can see that.

I wasn't sure about the Matias Galarza link either, (we've seen so many false links this year), but reading this==>

Primary Position: Central Midfield (CM)
Secondary Roles: Defensive Midfield (DM), Attacking Midfield (AM), or Left Midfield

Player Type: Dynamic box-to-box midfielder
Key Traits: High work rate, tactical intelligence, and ability to cover large distances
In Possession: Focuses on quick short passing, breaking initial opponent lines, and facilitating ball progression

He does seem to match up with exactly the same type of player we've been targeting this summer.

Gill was on our Radar I think but ships sailed. We won't buy any more keepers I'm sure. Keepers values will drop Sat on the bench.

Galarza would be an interesting one, would be a smart one, can cover multiple positions, including LB which we are obviously light.

You need two top keepers to compete. We had that in the Championship with Walton & Palmer, but the PL is a big step up. Maybe that's Van Oevelen and Scherpen, but the plan to loan out Van Oevelen for 12 months makes a lot of sense. That will, however, depend on getting on another experienced 'keeper alongside Scherpen.

So in that light, Gill makes perfect sense to fight alongside Scherpen for the shirt.

They are likely just using the Enciso links to try and generate interest in the other two.

Even if Palmer goes, it would be a fourth senior keeper. Seems highly unlikely.

It reads as a bit of a speculative piece based on reports from elsewhere that we’re in for Enciso. The other two they’re simply connecting because they believe we’re in for those positions. At the start of the summer we were, but it looks like we’re sorted for both now.

Orlando Gill was IMO the best keeper at the World Cup. If true, makes me wonder why we signed the other two this summer. Galarza didn't stand out other than deserving to be sent off about three times vs France.
