I’d keep him as a backup option for the left hand side. I think he’ll do better this time around than he did just after signing.
He also made a good impact from the bench last season so fingers crossed he’d be able to impact a few games this time around too |  |

Pre-seasons can be irrelevant.
Some players are playing to force a move, impress scouts watching.
Others are trying to impress the current manager, unsure where they stand.
Others are regaining fitness, easing their way back in. Gently does it. Possibly where Clarke is. | | | |

Can’t believe this is even a discussion. Last season he was our best attacking player. Doesn’t look like he’s quite got going this pre-season yet, but once he does, I’m sure he’ll chip in with some key moments. He also deserves his chance. |  |

Doesn’t strike me as a GON type out of possession and obviously some question marks about PL physicality.
We likely would not be a PL club again without his contributions last year but could actually see this as being a surprise late departure to a decent northern champ club if they have the cash. Boro maybe.
Otherwise would be decent option to bring off the bench in certain games for sure. [Post edited 9 Aug 21:26]

If they both left and we signed Armand Laurienté (we obviously done biz with that club before with Muric) I could certainly get in board with Laurienté and Maeda as being the options on the left at this level. [Post edited 9 Aug 21:30]

People put way too much stock in pre-season. He was fantastic last season, try to remember that more than this warm-up stuff. | | | |
