Agents encourage clubs in order to attract interest from elsewhere. And clubs big up their interest in a player to try and hurry-up their intended target to sign.

Are Ipswich being used as a PL club to get others moving? Possible, but there is clearly something in the talks.

I'm not saying there is no interest, but the vague nature of it all alongside lots of stories suggests the media are creating stories around it with not much idea of the truth in between.
How does a random journalist know the exact price the club wants but not report on the fee that was rejected? How does Romano know that a bid was submitted but not know the fee and not report on that being rejected?
I cant confess to understanding the ins and outs and I'm sure Romano is right, but thats a big story and he's never normally one to keep quiet when he's sitting on information that will get his numbers up. | | | |

He signed that deal in Sept 2023, after winning the world cup and becoming Alonso's most important CM.
He only started 12 of 30 games for them last year so clearly not playing up to that deal.
