| Greatest all-time controller of football 16:28 - Aug 12 with 2781 views | monty_radio | Poster J Dozzell asserts that Enciso had the greatest control that he’d personally seen. I’m not sure that we’ve had a thread recently or maybe at all that focused on that specific attribute. So who do you think in the annals of the Town fits that for you? For me, I think of Danny Hegan, Viljoen, Thijssen - even Petta on a good day. [Post edited 12 Aug 17:54]

He was class! | | | |

I'd agree with that. The opposition never got close to getting the ball off Frans.

Was it not Muhren-the-great that recommended Frans as being a better player than Arnie himself?

It was. Robson couldn't believe his luck. Muhren and Thijssen for less than the sale of Talbot.
| Greatest all-time controller of football on 18:41 - Aug 12 with 547 views | armchaircritic59 | Frans for me, could run with the ball seemingly glued to his foot ala Messi in his pomp, and yes, I am making that comparison. Rarely lost it and my favourite town player of all time. | | | |

Currie rented a car off me for a month when he went out on loan TWTD

George Best. Thread done and dusted. For us, nobody comes close to Frans. Top players were left unknotting their legs virtually every game. The modern player is truly excellent but quality of pitches, kit and no tackles allowed means their life is somewhat easier.

It was, I believe his comment to the then plain BR was along the lines of " You've left someone back home better than me ". Well, they were both outstanding in their own ways and would cost a kings ransom today.
| Greatest all-time controller of football on 00:25 - Aug 13 with 296 views | mrfixit426 | Thijssen for me. But the ball wasn't zipped into him at the same pace they do today. For a first touch, Enciso is as good as I've ever seen. Ironically, Jason Dozzell also had an incredible first touch. Those are the top three for me, but Jaden is right up there just behind. | | | |
