The other Dutch lad better with his feet but not sure how good with crosses coming in and facing dead ball.

| Kjell Scherpen on 21:48 - Aug 16 with 3966 views | GlasgowBlue | Me neither but he has a very good reputation and in hindsight we should have persevered with Muric so I think we have to go with him and hope he grows into the team. He hasn't had much to do in the friendlies so hopefully he'll be busier in the Prem and that will keep him sharp. | |

| Kjell Scherpen on 21:48 - Aug 16 with 3970 views | Bellevue_Blue | In fairness, the bloke has barely had a save to make .... and neither on the weekend were close to being his fault. His shot stopping ability will be by far the most important thing this season. let's judge him on that. | | | |

He'll need far more than being a good shot-stopper though, when playing in the Premier League. I remember a certain Matteo Sereni being an outstanding shot-stopper when he was here; unfortunately he never properly learned how to tip them around the post or away to the side, resulting in quite a few goals conceded via tap in follow ups

With hindsight, the club have definitely done the right thing with Muric.

Here we see a good example of writing a post when you get in from the pub massively pissed and pass out before you finish it, still giggling at the word 'fert', which you are sure means something, and it doesn't really matter that you can't exactly remember what. You then wake up with your face stuck to the coffee table four hours later and manage to write a more or less coherent sentence, and post without reading the first bit, before rushing off to the bog.

| Kjell Scherpen on 06:45 - Aug 17 with 2315 views | ThatMuhrenCross | I don’t think he’s really been tested yet. First game he had a couple of wobbly moments with the ball at his feet but to be expected on his first appearance behind a defence he’s not familiar with. Seems to pluck crosses out of the air like they’re absolutely nothing, which is good. If his ability with his feet does turn out to be limited, then we just need to consider that with how we play and not put him in difficult situations unnecessarily. | |

Really? I thought he was partitially at fault, with his positioning, for both goals at the weekend. Probably a bit harsh on the first, but the second he rushed out into no-man's land and got nowhere near it.

O'Shea certainly thought so too, watching the game back he was telling Scherpen to stay on his line and pointing for their second goal.

Personally think that’s harsh. Not sure what he was expected to do with the first one. On the second one, his defence went AWOL, so he was probably damned either way whether he stayed at home or went for the ball

What do you want hime to do with the first? His own defender kicks it past him from a yard away? For the second, he had to come out and close down the space/ the touch, it was just a brilliant ball/finish. He couldn't have waited for the striker to bring the ball down. The fault for the goal is entirely on Philogene/ Davis/ Greaves who collectively do not communicate and leave a huge amount of space to let a man run untouched in behind. Maybe Scherpen could have come out faster, thats possibly the only criticism.

Let’s just be clear, on the second one, the defender failed to track his runner, and that’s why the scored. Not sure what Scherpen is supposed to do there. If he stays on his line he’s still facing a one v one.
