Superb signing. A player of genuine top tier quality, I thought he looked a real live wire at the world cup and a better player than the one who left us, who will have better players around him this time.
Germany v Paraguay probably wasn't a dissimilar match up to a number of games we'll face this season, its good to have players with that muscle memory and experience of not being in dominant sides against world class opposition. |  | | |

I know there has likely been some manipulation between the two fees we've paid to Strasbourg but €30m is a good fee in my books too for a genuine PL quality match winner. I thought he looked our best player by quite a distance at the back end of 24/25. And as you say, he's improved since then. [Post edited 17 Aug 15:28]

I don;t know enough about him to be excited - though i hope the price indicates that he;s actually now a proper Prem quality footballer. But if you're excited Joe then that's good enough for me.
But what is it that excites you? My memory from before was a ball hogger who just wanted to shoot - even if a team mate was in a better place. What's different now?

I'd say so. Slightly depends on what they have in mind for Ouattara I guess. An experienced striker the obvious priority and I expect we will have to wait til the final week even if that's frustrating. [Post edited 17 Aug 15:57]

Its a lot of money in real terms but such is the way now. When you see the fees being bandied about its probably not unreasonable. In GBP its said to be £25.6m incl. add ons. It's probably in the region of £20m - £22m + a few mil based on performance / survival etc which isn't a bad fee for a talented 22 year old international with close to 100 top flight appearances already under his belt. | | | |
