| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat 16:51 - Sep 7 with 2189 views | BelsteadCav | The stick I’ve seen him getting on social media is unbelievable. We’ve played Man U and Liverpool back to back but people are already claiming he’s worse than Muric. Footballers look at social media. This isn’t helping at all. | |

| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat on 16:55 - Sep 7 with 1679 views | FrimleyBlue | They're just not giving him any benefit of doubt there were 6 goals scored on the weekend at the keepers near post. 6, 3 of them against what's classed as incredible keepers. The 2nd goal v liverpool, sure looks horrible. He'll learn from it, but he was out of position because he had first put himself in the best position to intercept a ball over the top that didn't happen, yes he should have stepped back, but he wasn't to know greaves was going to cover for diop. That will come with developing an understanding of his team mates. | |

Don't think they're gonna cope with us losing a lot of games this season. I don't think it's just us though, I remember a lot of Cov fans going for Lampard when we beat them at their place and when they started having a tricky spell. Is it just the modern entitled fan? Dunno, but you would hardly want them in the trenches with you would you?

Yet again, an element of our fanbase seem intent on damaging the club with their idiocy. The vitriol towards Scherpen is not only disgraceful; it is simply ignorant. I made the huge mistake of coming on here late Friday night, feeling pretty positive about our overall performance against a team that cost several times ours. I won't make that mistake again if we've lost a game. Shame, as this place used to be a platform for reasoned debate.

Oh thanks very much I’ve been to all 3 games so far, and I have never been on his back once. If it wasn’t for some of his saves we could have easily lost 8 or 9 to Man U. His kicking is average but the rest of his game is very good. You can’t write a player off after 3 matches [Post edited 7 Sep 17:10]

| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat on 17:16 - Sep 7 with 1475 views | SheffordBlue | Think he's made some mistakes but was surprised to see that he has also made the joint most number of saves in the Prem so far and has a better Save % than Roefs, Bizot, Verbruggen, Rushworth, Leno, Kinsky, Sels, Henderson and Lammens. The Hull keeper has had an amazing start to the season but his 100% save record isn't going to last and will probably even out. To be successful this season we probably need our keeper to have a 'top third' keeper record by the end of the season. | |

Agree re Hull keeper, but surely thise stats sre very much dependent upon which opponents you've played against, and the numver if shots on target those opponents get off. Logic says playing teams like Man Utd, Liverpool would produce a higher number of shots on goal ( and therefore you'd hope keeper saves when called into action) than if youre playing say, Fulham, or Brenford?

I doubt it will stop. They were both getting pelters 18 months ago. So I expect Scherpen will still get both barrels, they'll reload and then give it to Jaden too. What kind of moron thinks that abusing our own players (regardless of what you believe they are capable of), will achieve anything other than helping our opposition?
| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat on 17:43 - Sep 7 with 1260 views | Backtoblue78A | It's difficult to watch a performance like that and then watch Arsenal's David Raya a couple of days later owning his box and pulling off a series of world class saves. I know he's tall, but his general mobility and positional sense seems non-existent. | | | |
| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat on 17:54 - Sep 7 with 1216 views | ReusersTown | Social media has given thickos a very loud voice with the way that it has been monetised and the focus on it by large corporations. The morons are more interested in attention than the good of the team unfortunately. In all honesty if Muric was given the appropriate respect he'd probably still be our keeper now and be playing pretty well if wager. | | | |

Look we all know that if he hadn't been roundly abused every time he crossed the touchline Matt Richards would never have won the Champions' League. [Post edited 7 Sep 18:35]

That's fair on the overall number of shots stat but I think the save % stat is much less dependent on quality of opposition and he's very much middle of the pack there. Like many of the stats/eye test stuff I think it's too early in the season to draw too many conclusions but given the narrative surrounding him so far you'd think he's one of the worst keepers in the league to date and the (limited) data doesn't really support that.

Indeed. If only Jonathan Douglas wasn't abused by us fickle fans who refused to get behind him. Would have won the Ballon D'Or. [Post edited 7 Sep 18:22]

| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat on 18:24 - Sep 7 with 1039 views | Broadbent23 | When Scherpen starts to make errors from winning positions then people can moan. He kept Town in the game against Sunderland. We now have extra fire power and against MU we had a shock lead which was takenaway from us because of player error; therefore at stage of the season all players will make errors and we have the time to erase them. Let's see what the next two months conjures up for the team. KEEP CALM AND SUPPORT THE TEAM. | |

Douglas would have probably been......OK , at best, with some players around him who could actually run. Mick being essentially forced to partner him with the equally unfairly-reviled Skuse die to injuries to Hyam and Bishop didn't really help his case. [Post edited 7 Sep 18:35]

| Looks like Scherpen is the new scape goat on 18:44 - Sep 7 with 938 views | football | Our fans always have to have one. Guess means McAteer is out of the frame for a few weeks. I've said this before, how can this negativity help the players. People need to think before they right, and if they can't be positive or polite probably should refrain from writing anything. Or, as its going to be a long season against a lot of very good teams, they realise this team isnt the one to support as it may upset them for many weeks of the season | | | |
