They're just not giving him any benefit of doubt
there were 6 goals scored on the weekend at the keepers near post. 6, 3 of them against what's classed as incredible keepers.
The 2nd goal v liverpool, sure looks horrible. He'll learn from it, but he was out of position because he had first put himself in the best position to intercept a ball over the top that didn't happen, yes he should have stepped back, but he wasn't to know greaves was going to cover for diop. That will come with developing an understanding of his team mates. |  |

Some of our fans wet the bed when we didn't win every week in the Championship. Don't think they're gonna cope with us losing a lot of games this season.
I don't think it's just us though, I remember a lot of Cov fans going for Lampard when we beat them at their place and when they started having a tricky spell.

I’ve been to all 3 games so far, and I have never been on his back once. If it wasn’t for some of his saves we could have easily lost 8 or 9 to Man U. His kicking is average but the rest of his game is very good. You can’t write a player off after 3 matches [Post edited 7 Sep 17:10]

Think he's made some mistakes but was surprised to see that he has also made the joint most number of saves in the Prem so far and has a better Save % than Roefs, Bizot, Verbruggen, Rushworth, Leno, Kinsky, Sels, Henderson and Lammens.
The Hull keeper has had an amazing start to the season but his 100% save record isn't going to last and will probably even out.
To be successful this season we probably need our keeper to have a 'top third' keeper record by the end of the season. | |

Agree re Hull keeper, but surely thise stats sre very much dependent upon which opponents you've played against, and the numver if shots on target those opponents get off. Logic says playing teams like Man Utd, Liverpool would produce a higher number of shots on goal ( and therefore you'd hope keeper saves when called into action) than if youre playing say, Fulham, or Brenford? |  |

That's fair on the overall number of shots stat but I think the save % stat is much less dependent on quality of opposition and he's very much middle of the pack there.
Like many of the stats/eye test stuff I think it's too early in the season to draw too many conclusions but given the narrative surrounding him so far you'd think he's one of the worst keepers in the league to date and the (limited) data doesn't really support that. | |

When Scherpen starts to make errors from winning positions then people can moan. He kept Town in the game against Sunderland. We now have extra fire power and against MU we had a shock lead which was takenaway from us because of player error; therefore at stage of the season all players will make errors and we have the time to erase them. Douglas would have probably been......OK , at best, with some players around him who could actually run. Mick being essentially forced to partner him with the equally unfairly-reviled Skuse die to injuries to Hyam and Bishop didn't really help his case. [Post edited 7 Sep 18:35]
