| 6 points 00:07 - Sep 13 with 1947 views | Kropotkin123 | Might not seem like a lot, as there is a long way to go, but consider... - We got our 6th (7th and 8th) point in the 11th game of the previous premiership season. That season we had tough games against Liverpool and Man City in our opening 4 games. This season we've had Liverpool and Man Utd. - We played well in those opening games against Fulham and Brighton. But went away with just 2 points. - So many times we were on the wrong end of teams finding a way against us, through their subs. Brentford stands out in my memory. Fulham away too with the penalties. - This season, twice in the 90th minute, we have already found a way, through our substitutes scoring, to win games. - It took us 16 games to win 2 games. This time just 4. - It took us 19 games to win home and away. This time just 4. We may not be, but it feels like we are on a different trajectory. Well done to the squad so far. We weren't brilliant at any point and were defensively suspect at times but we found a way. Performances are nice but they ultimately do not matter. Get points on the board, get confidence in the group and keep it rolling. Onto Everton! | | | |

Yep. | |
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Palace missing 4 or 5 players probably helped us today as well. Mateta, Henderson, Doucoure, Sarr. Big parts of their spine, but an important win away from home against a team that are likely to be a bottom 10 side.

The good news is I thought we were a solid 6.5/10 team performance today and probably no more than that if i'm honest. But you absolutely have to make a habit of picking up points from games like that. Coming back from 1-0 to win is a huge confidence booster.

slightly over the top reaction there. If any team were missing the spine of the team it would impact anyone. We may still have won with them playing also, but as said an important win. [Post edited 13 Sep 20:12]

This is good. * starting team, which really means starting eleven plus usual subs these days.

Not sure we should focus too much on that stat. Incredible insomuch as we only won 4 league games that season perhaps. With the players we’ve got now, tighten the defence, we’re on a much higher trajectory this time. Up the town.

Thought he was just stating facts too. You cant deny Palace were weakened by the players listed missing. [Post edited 13 Sep 8:25]

I'd take a point next week right now tbh and that would be an incredible return for the first set of matches. Another 8 wins from 34 games sounds doable provided we pick up some draws as well. Just annoying that Hull look like they are staying up (according to the stats people) meaning we need to find two teams to finish above other than Cov. Another 5 points next month will see us ticking over nicely.

| 6 points on 08:29 - Sep 13 with 696 views | Churchman | People can dismiss results as weakened opposition or anything they like. The Premier League is tough. Points on the board matter, especially early. If you find yourself playing catch up in the PL, there’s a good chance you will struggle to. Two wins, two losses? Against that opposition we really couldn’t have expected more with a new team. The heartening thing for me is that despite a leaky defence at the moment, we look capable of hurting teams. We have midfielders that have the quality to compete and players up front who can score. We are trying to have a go at teams. Flemming’s winner looked simple. Clarke mugged off Sunderland doing what they know he can do - but you have to be in the right place to do it. And that’s a skill in itself. Never knock a goal - it’s the hardest aspect of the game. Even at the truly pitiful level I played at, I couldn’t do it but I admired those that could. We have a habit of falling out of games for periods at the moment, but also a habit of keeping going - the latter was completely missing last time because quite frankly we didn’t have the players. There were some good efforts in 2024/5, especially early in the season, but we couldn’t win games and it was obvious we were way off what was needed. We may come up short again, but we’ll be a helluva lot closer. Work to do. That’s obvious, esp the defence. The players are still to learn each others games and form a proper team. Time will solve that which is why having a couple of wins on the board is vital. Well done them! They look away mob at Palace sounded in good form too. Big mention for Davis and Clarke. They look the real deal at this level. | | | |

| 6 points on 09:38 - Sep 13 with 455 views | Guthrum | Two things pleased me particularly about yesterday. Firstly, that we carried on from where we left off against Sunderland after a batch of tricky (and losing) games. We haven't gone into a defensive shell, losing the approach of matching the opposition and being aggressive when able. Secondly, that we are winning games at the death which were were drawing two years ago. Those extra couple of points each time will be incredibly valuable. | |
