That would be such an amazing start if we managed it, I do see it as an opportunity to get a result. Even looking at their 11, it doesn't look the most intimidating for the PL. Surely, we can get at their full backs. 4 points in the next 2 would be ok, I don't want to get too greedy.

Moyes have them very well organised and they are very hard working with no lack of flair Their striker does struggle compared to what we’ve been up against A point would be huge

Would take it all day. Good manager for that kind of squad for sure. Would like to see us start fast in this one.

Indeed, 4 points from Palace and Everton would be fantastic! It would take so much pressure off us to stay ahead of the pack in these early days of the season.

Their 6 outfield starters out in a serious shift tonight, getting really stuck in, may be a little jaded at the start of the game Saturday… as you say get into them early control the game and tempo

Not often as a promoted club you have 10 rested players going up against 6-7 starrers from midweek (outside of European sides). Would love to get on top of them early and try and nick one. [Post edited 16 Sep 22:36]

It would be absolutely stunning if we managed that. However, Everton will be incredibly hard to beat, tonight they looked like real fighters with a little quality in places. We’re going to have to beat our absolute best to get a point or more against them. I actually think going strong has done them some good going into Saturday. I wish we had, we might have turned over a weaker Arsenal and gone into the game with more minutes together as a team and great confidence. Instead we found out the likes of Kipre and McAteer aren’t good enough for the Premier League… something we didn’t need to try to find out!

I don't think tonight will impact them too much. They are a very strong, physical side. I'd take a draw now tbh but as I am making the 9 hour round trip obviously hoping for more before we enter the first break of the season.

That was hardly a weak Arsenal team regardless of who we put out. No guarantee we turn them over even with our strongest side. SB

Any kind of result Saturday would be a huge boost. Not just for the obvious reason (ie. Getting points = good) but also mentally going into the first international break having objectively achieved par or better in every league game, results in 3 out of 5 etc can only be positive for morale Not to get too far ahead either but it would set a real platform for Fulham, chance to get into double figures for points after just 6 games and potentially a 9 point gap to them (they have Man U this weekend) which would give us a massive platform COYB 🙏🏻

I think we all thought that last time we played them at Portman Road and they absolutely spanked us. They are going to be organised, physical and are a big team. All the things we have traditionally struggled against.

We started looking like we might when the better players came on for us, and the soft goals we gave away to start - you would hope our better players wouldn't have allowed that. But we treat cup games like reserve fixtures, so we get what we deserve for that really.

Although when Clarke and Davis came on we noticeably went up a level and scored twice.

Yes, tonnes of knowhow and Premier League physicality in there, they remain a proper Moyes team with a few bits of magic too. Not expecting anything but a point would be tremendous.

That's true, but I think we'll give it a good go and if they underestimate us, who knows ... we might just surprise them

I appreciate it was much less experienced than now. My point was even then, people thought we could overturn a 'poor Everton' side.

Yeah, they are a proper PL outfit with the manager to match but I do see it as an opportunity.

I think we should win this, Everton have lost their best player and the striker is absolutely dreadful.

I genuinely think if they didn't have Moyes they'd be relegation candidates but he does tend to get the most out of what is at his disposal. Expect an ugly game and I'd take a point but I do think GON should definitely be looking at is as winnable. Point, good. 3 would be amazing.
