Not that you'll catch everyone with bad intentions of course. Plus there will be people who arrive by whatever means and had no bad intentions at the time they arrived and then become radicalised as events take place. Just as Brits become radicalised.

What do you want them to do, wait until Monday morning or report it before there’s anything to report? Met police publicised it 3 hours ago, media outlets then followed suit. You’re a weird guy.

| 2 men charged on 08:15 - Oct 3 with 729 views | Mullet | That’s two posts now where you’ve taken certain details and got 2+2 to equal 63. Iran sending over terrorists is nothing new unfortunately, and they will have exploited the small boat situation more than once. Knowing that it would cause this sort of outrage. The fact you’re angry about small boats but not so much the actions of the Iranian state is pretty baffling. Every time you post these right wing version of events you assume that people are fine with stuff you’re not, despite being told every time that’s not the case. Do you think it strengthens your argument or do you just blindly swallow whatever the Reform line is on these things? | |

They arrived years before Iran stated that. They arrived the Tories, small boat crossings are falling. SB [Post edited 3 Oct 8:32]

That depends on your definition of ‘massive reduction’ aside from whether the numbers are accurately reported and how many arrive undetected. I am aware that the government, including Burnham, constantly claim an 82% drop in immigration under them. This is incorrect as it’s a net figure (estimate) against a 2023 figure and conveniently ignores those who’ve left the country. https://fullfact.org/immigrati The actual figure is an estimated 37% and on the face of it there are a number of factors driving actual reduction, assuming there has been one, such as significant drop in arrivals into the EU. https://migrationobservatory.o The numbers of small boat arrivals is still 3x higher than five years ago and does not take into account the increase in size/capacity of the boats used. I would suggest that there are still very real concerns regarding the numbers arriving in this country. Who they are, why they’re here and beyond political fear whether the current government, like their predecessors since Blair binned immigration controls (not in his manifesto, of course) are truly interested.

"Big boats are increasing." Why does the size of the boat matter? It's the total number that matters surely? Big boats are increasing because the government policy has been so effective at limiting the supply of small boats. You should be celebrating that policy, not looking for ways to progress your narrative. "I’m not disputing they came in under the previous Government.." Your post clearly made it sound like they had arrived after Iran made their statement. Stop being disingenuous, everyone can see what you're doing. "What happened to ‘smashing the gangs’." I don't even know what you mean, repeating slogans whilst ignoring facts makes you look a bit silly in my view. The crossings are going down, is that not what you want? SB

I don't know why you bother TBH. I've had an intensely busy week and barely been on here... come back this morning and everything's exactly the same as it always was. I should be comforted by that, I suppose!

Show your workings on that then. Show us when the individuals arrived. Show us the numbers year on year of small boat crossings. You must be pretty sure on your dates and figures on both for calling the poster dense.

The links in my post challenge ‘celebrating’ anything, surely? How much has external factors made to the reduction? Regardless, we are still looking at considerable undocumented known illegal migrants entering this country even if it is less than 2023. According to IFS, ‘In its day-to-day operations, the UK Treasury reported outstanding asylum and irregular migration pressures of over £4 billion to £6.4 billion in single-fiscal-year budget audits. The UK spends roughly 40% more per person on housing asylum seekers than its European neighbours’. If there is truth in this, does this form part of the many attractions to the land of milk and honey? It’s interesting that the sheer cost of this to the ‘hard working taxpayer’ is rarely mentioned.

They are all "small boats" and the numbers are clearly diminishing significantly regardless of what sized small boat is used...

I don't know why you've said 'you used to be a good lad', you don't know me and also would like to think you dont pass judgement on people's character based on a couple of forum posts. I'd like to think anyone on here who has met me would disagree with 'used to be'. What's 'hot take grenade' about it? I posted a news story and my initial opinion on said news story, is that not what a forum is all about? Why is any other forum post also not a potential 'grenade' in that case? I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this post. The conspiracy theories being proffered by the perpetually dense in the comments make no sense, and the emphasis placed on boat crossings by Reform and Restore as seemingly the biggest problem the UK has ever faced is obsessive and stupid, as is their deliberate ignorance of the downward trend of numbers of crossings. But they are a problem, they need to be stopped completely and immigration needs to be much more tightly controlled. It’s possible to have these views without making it your entire personality like Farage or pretending there’s no problem at all and that there’s no reason why people should have issues with immigration like some of my fellow left leaners do.

Based at the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS) at the University of Oxford, the Migration Observatory provides impartial, independent, authoritative, evidence-based analysis of data on migration and migrants in the UK, to inform media, public and policy debates. In September 2026, yearly small boat arrivals reached their lowest level since 2021. Around 27,900 people crossed the Channel by small boat in the year ending 9 September 2026. The last time arrivals were at this level was in December 2021. Arrivals were 40% lower than their recent peak in September 2025, and 11% lower than when Labour took office in July 2024. Numbers fell considerably in the first eight months of 2026. There were 16,300 arrivals between the start of the year and 9 September, 47% less than in the same period of 2025, and 27% less than in 2024. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the suspects had arrived via small boat in 2020 and 2023. One was granted asylum, and the other has a live asylum claim.

Let’s assume that is all true. And verifiable. What does that make someone that doesn’t believe facts. Is dense the correct word. The British civil service and the University of Oxford are respected British institutions, worldwide. People that don’t trust such institutions, really must hate Britain, or possible be easily mislead, and possibly dense? [Post edited 3 Oct 12:39]
