Am awaiting a taxi paid for by greater Anglia to home. Could be an hour wait at least but at least I’ll be back to Romford at some stage.
Funny thing is they had hundreds of taxis booked to Colchester station expecting trains to be put on from Colchester which then weren’t. I spotted it online that they weren’t running and managed to tell half the station. Of which customer service rang through and found out I was correct. So everyone’s taxis were then cancelled and now everyone is getting taxis paid for to their houses rather than just to cokchester station. Clearly a huge difference - especially for Forest fans here.
Shoutout BlueLagos for offering up a room. Really appreciated.
It’s half past 3 in the morning and I’m now being sent to a hotel in Ipswich. Genuinely have lost the will to live.
5 and a half hours of false promises from Greater Anglia and their agency cab firm
Convinced the staff at greater Anglia that me staying in a hotel wouldn’t be of use as I’d still have to travel via Cambridge tomorrow which would’ve taken forever. And as such, they changed my booking for the taxi to Romford to the Ipswich hotel we were all sent to.
I can happily say at 4:20am it arrived and as of 10 minutes ago so did I in soggy rainy Romford.
The driver of the taxi was an Ipswich fan and even let me back in after my missus refused to let me come home believing I was out drinking and then had booked a hotel to do naughty stuff. He then took me round to my dear old mum who did let me in. Lovely bloke and at least in this time of pure ridiculousness of the last 8 hours, I’ve seen some good old fashioned human decency.

Any idea what happened to the other hundreds of fans that wanted to be on the London bound trains? I was supposed to be going that way, but fortunately have family in Suffolk, so stayed with them.

At least we got a point
Highlighting crass stupidity since sometime around 2010

Yikes! I hope you told her that you had put a “do not disturb” sign on your knob.
Over the last 25 year of going away games I must have kipped on a good few stations with missing the last train, the last train not turning up and my personal favorite is not even trying to get the train as I have got chatting in a pub and was having a nice time.
Have a good Saturday, COYB

I gave 3 a lift to Manningtree when I heard the trains were fcked. Went to the station and just shouted "anyone want a lift" !
Was a pain on the drive (Took an hour Vs usual 30 mins) but very minor and do feel for the 100s left outside the station in what looked like utter carnage - and the staff too
Hope everyone gets/got home safe. Plenty of Forest fans probably proper stuffed too.

ÂŁ240 uber back to SE London for me. Standard lack of communication by a train company who should just be forced to immediately go into the system they always eventually default to, utilising cabs etc. No choice but to take it into my own hands as have a flight this morning.

That's a nightmare Rommers! Were you not communicating with the missus what was happening throughout the evening? Seems pretty harsh that she didn't trust you and let you in.
